1. Leash handling skills- the ability to safely manage a dog on a long line is a skill! 2. Keeping slack in the line 3. Focus on handler- this keeps your dog in "your orbit" so to speak. 4. Recall AND the ability to know when your dog cannot recall and alternate strategies (let's be honest- the wilderness is EXCITING! There may be times where your dog's brain is hyper focused on the snoofs). It's all worth it when you see your dog being a dog...and the wonderful doggy nap that follows.
