Great Lakes Weim Rescue Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is an all-volunteer,foster home-based group and our mission is the rescue and placement of Weimaraners in the Great Lakes Region.

We are a non-profit dog rescue organization comprised of dedicated volunteers that specializes in the care, fostering and re-homing of Weimaraners in the five Great Lake States. We are a private foundation that was formed in May 2005 and are a federally recognized non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We strive to provide a safe haven for Weimaraners that are in need of finding a new home. We are bas

ed in West Michigan and through a network of dedicated foster homes, service the five surrounding states in the Great Lakes region (MI, OH, IN, IL, and WI). We are affiliated with many other groups and work in cooperation and collaboration with a network of humane societies, animal shelters, animal control facilities and other dog rescues in these and other states as well as with private owners needing to relinquish their dog.

This is formerly Ashley, now Greta. Backstory - Greta was with her foster family for a year before finding her forever home. She’s doing very well now, although her first two weeks were a little bit rough. She wouldn’t walk more than a half a block and she didn’t want to eat. She was definitely out of her element after having been a breeding dog at a puppy mill in Missouri for several years before coming to GLWR. She didn’t have much luck finding a home initially but… after a couple of unsuccessful attempts she is now in her forever home! 🏡

Update - Greta watches TV! 📺 One evening last week we turned on a Netflix program about dogs. Part of it was about breeding and training labs to be service dogs. It started with a mom and her 8 or 9 puppies. Greta heard the puppies, raised her head, and looked at the tv. Then she walked over and sat like that for about 20 minutes, transfixed. Amazing! 🥰

Please light a candle to help guide Hawk’s journey to the Rainbow Bridge.
Linda, Dennis & family surrounded their baby this morning as he took his last breath…after eating two delicious home-made chocolate chip muffins.
Hawk lived a fabulous life considering he had a very rough start. After being dumped at a shelter in Flint - GLWR transported him to his adoptive family in Canada. Hawk’s home was filled with joy and rescue dogs, cats and chickens - all in a gorgeous country setting.
This beautiful animal had the most expressive eyes - so much emotion in his gaze. And he was adorable. Hawk will be greatly missed by his fur brothers & sisters and family. 💔 Godspeed little Hawk

Meet Storm & Daisy – A Bonded Pair Looking for Their Forever Home! 🐾

Currently being fostered in Grand Haven, MI - Storm is a 6-year-old blue Weimaraner with a heart full of snuggles and a love language of physical touch. He adores being close to his people, giving nose boops for kisses, and leaning into you for pets and butt scratches. He’s social, friendly with dogs and people, and has been raised around children (though his size means he might accidentally knock over the littlest ones!). Storm is crate trained, house trained, and can free roam the house like a gentleman. He walks well on a leash and is trained on a prong collar.

Daisy, also 6 years old, is a stunning silver-gray Weimaraner with soulful amber eyes. She’s not a snuggler, but her love language is quality time—she’ll follow you everywhere and keep a close eye on her brother, Storm. Daisy LOVES her Chuckit balls and playtime, and while she’s gentle with kids, her enthusiasm might knock over the tiniest humans during fetch. Like Storm, she’s crate and house trained, and can free roam without issue.

Both pups enjoy Benebones, lick pads, and treat mats, and will happily give you nose boops for kisses. They’ve been raised in a loving home and are ready to bring that same joy to their next chapter—together.

💙 Storm and Daisy are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They’re affectionate, well-mannered, and ready to move in and become part of your family.

ADOPTER needed ASAP for Miss Mama Kaytee - 2 year old silver gal currently in Crossville, TN. Kaytee delivered & lovingly nurtured a healthy litter of beautiful pups 4 months ago and now it’s time for this superstar Mama to find a forever home of her own. Kaytee is great with other dogs (especially little ones!) and good with kids (over 5) she has a high prey drive so no cats in the home.
