This is my personal horse, Ellie,
aka Ellie Mae, Elles Belles or in formal settings RHR Bardellas Dream.

She's a 9 y/o Champagne Dun AQHA, foundation bred mare. I bought her as an unstarted 4 year old and have slowly been adding training over the past 5 years.

I thought it would be fun to share a picture of her prior to going into a conditioning program for the next 6 weeks and then onto a 30 day tune up, and then follow up with some updates along the way.

I will be checking in on her for changes in muscle tone, maintaining balance throughout her body and addressing any sore areas along the way. She will get weekly bodywork/massage, along with any adjustments to current nutrition, foot care chiropractic care, or vet checks when needed.

Current care program:
From a nutrition standpoint she's on pasture grazing, Timothy hay, hay blend pellets with Equerry's Equine Supplement and Osteo-Max topper.

She's barefoot, on a 6 week trim cycle. Boots worn on her fronts for riding outside of the arena.

Currently no health issues or concerns. Recently vetted and vaxed. Spring de-worming with Panacur. Teeth floated every fall.

Our goal is to get conditioned, stay healthy and balanced and be ready for some ranch shows and cow sorting in the near future.

Feel free to ask questions here, or reach out directly!

Session 2:
Sharing Rou's before and after of her massage session on Monday. She was seen by the vet later in the week and was diagnosed with a collateral ligament injury in the right front which explains a lot with her appearing "off", but not necessarily what we might consider "lame". She will be off of work for approximately 8 months to allow the ligament to heal.

We will continue to do massage and will also be adding PEMF and Cryotherapy to target the injured connective tissue to support her healing.

(Note: Her compression mask was put on to help her relax during our session. There was a lot of noise that was happening at the neighbors house and she was getting a bit agitated.)

This is a great graphic to explain the effects/benefits of Pre/Pro/Post Biotics in a horses nutrition.

The health of a horse always starts with nutrition.

🐴 Prebiotics, Probiotics & Postbiotics: What’s the Difference?

“Biotics” are often used to support digestive health, but each type plays a different role in the hindgut ecosystem.

🌱 Prebiotics
Non-digestible fibers that feed beneficial microbes already living in the gut, helping support a stable microbial population and fiber digestion.

🦠 Probiotics
Live microorganisms that are introduced into the gut to help support microbial balance, particularly during times of stress or disruption.

⚗️ Postbiotics
Bioactive compounds produced by microbes (such as fermentation products) that directly support gut function and immune health, without relying on live organisms.

🔄 What about synbiotics?
Synbiotics combine prebiotics and probiotics to support both the microbes themselves and the environment they live in.

Several Mad Barn products, including Omneity, AminoTrace+, Visceral+, Optimum Digestive Health, and Optimum Probiotics, contain different types of biotics to help support digestive function and maintain a healthy hindgut environment.

Biotics can be a useful tool, but their role depends on your horse’s diet, management, and specific needs.

🐎 We’re starting a new eight-week journey with Rou, helping her to rediscover balance and comfort in her body! Rou is an 11 y/o AQHA mare. She's been in a conditioning and training program, and is working towards becoming part of a fantastic mounted shooting team. 💫

Over the coming weeks, we’ll use a variety of tools and modalities to release tension, restore symmetry, and support her overall movement and well-being. Each weekly session will build on the last, helping Rue find her natural rhythm from head to tail.

Rue's owner is fully invested in helping Rue be her happiest. She's invited us to share updates so that others can follow along with her progress and the subtle changes that come with equine bodywork — this is where transformation begins. 🌿🐴

Week 1: This weeks bodywork consisted of whole body manual massage, with a lot of focus on her left shoulder and chest where she has significant scar tissue from previous accident. We followed up with the myofascial release massager.

I had the best time working with this sweet gal today. She really enjoyed her massage and was such a good girl.

And seriously... the eyelashes, the ears, THE Personality 🥰. Mules are just so stinking cool.

Laminitis is scary, but quick action and appropriate treatment can make all of the difference.

First pic shows the heat output of a laminitis flare. Second pic was shortly after we applied a pressurized cryotherapy treatment.

Using pressurized cryotherapy followed by a strict icing and medication protocol can help you and your vet with your horses journey towards healing.

Don't hesitate to reach out to book an emergent issue appointment with time sensitive concerns like these.
