Training Update for Nas-Tyia 🐾✨

At CHP K9, we believe training goes beyond obedience. That’s why every dog in our program also spends time learning to be comfortable with grooming.

Today, Nas-Tyia had a grooming session, and she did an amazing job! We work on teaching our dogs to stand calmly, accept handling, and become comfortable with brushing, nail trims, bathing, and all the little things that make grooming a positive experience.

Our goal is for every dog to go home not only well-trained, but also confident and relaxed during grooming appointments. A dog that is comfortable being handled makes life easier for both their family and their groomer.

Nas-Tyia continues to impress us with her calm attitude and willingness to learn. She’s becoming a well-rounded companion in every way! 💙🐾

This beautiful girl is incredibly smart and very powerful. She also has a history of aggression, so every grooming appointment is approached with safety, patience, and a plan.

She wears a comfortable basket muzzle so she can pant, breathe, and stay relaxed while everyone remains safe. And because Mr. Pax is always traveling with us, every appointment becomes a training opportunity.

Before entering the grooming trailer, we practice door manners. She sits, waits calmly, and enters only when invited.

During the groom, we focus on keeping her relaxed and successful.

After we’re finished, the learning continues. She patiently sits and watches Mr. Pax before being released from the trailer, reinforcing calm behavior and self-control.

🐕 Double-Coated Dogs Need Grooming Too!

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is, “My dog doesn’t need grooming because I don’t cut their hair.”

The truth is, double-coated breeds need regular professional grooming to keep their coat healthy!

Breeds like Huskies, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Labs, Australian Shepherds, and many mixed breeds have an undercoat that sheds year-round.

Our grooming process includes:
✨ Prima Wash deep-cleaning to the skin
✨ Professional de-shedding
✨ High-velocity drying to remove loose undercoat
✨ Nail trimming and ear cleaning
✨ Brushing that reaches all the way to the skin

Removing the dead undercoat allows fresh, healthy hair to grow, improves airflow to the skin, helps regulate body temperature, and dramatically reduces the amount of hair left in your home.

🐝🍯 Welcome to the CHP Mobile Grooming family, Miss Honey!

This sweet two-year-old girl was recently rescued, and you could definitely tell she had been eating well and enjoying her new home! She is a very happy little camper, but her coat was also extremely matted and needed attention right away.

Her new owner contacted me the day after bringing her home, so I was able to come out and get her groomed as soon as possible. Removing heavy matting is about much more than appearance—it helps relieve pulling on the skin and allows the dog to move much more comfortably.

Miss Honey was such a sweet girl throughout the process, and I know she must feel so much better now! This was a fresh start for a beautiful girl beginning her new life with a family who already cares so much about her.
