Me: Finally processed the Boar whos had the time of his life, yesterday.

Fudge: Oh today's a good day to show mom what he's been up to🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Fudge is currently having Mini Pot Belly babies. She can leave with them as a group or they can leave as bottle/pan babies.

⚠️If you're wondering why I'm still having piglets....see the pinned post for the in depth story.

There ain’t much in this life that fills my heart more than seeing my siblings working with their hands, heads, and hearts, doing the kind of work most folks don't even know how to begin.

I’ve had the honor of teaching them how to raise animals, grow food, process what we harvest, and live close to the land. And let me tell you, they’ve taken to it like ducks to water.

Watching them carry buckets at sunrise, pull weeds with grit, or process animals for our supper with steady hands—it's humbling. It reminds me that this way of life, this know-how, it ain’t just staying alive. It’s being passed down.
I’m proud. I’m grateful. I’m blessed beyond measure to be building something real with the people I love most.

This is the good stuff. This is the life.

That being said....I'm down to NINE adult pigs....single digits!!! They are able to leave to help other pig droves or if they stay here they'll be freezer camp bound.

I also have babies galore (see previous ree).

Farm work doesn’t make you stronger. It doesn’t make you anything.

It reveals you.

There’s gym strong and then there’s farm strong. They’re mutually exclusive.

The toughest women you’ll ever meet spend their days on a farm.

There are more uses for twine than you can possibly imagine. You can tie up a hole in a slow feeder, fashion a tail strap for a horse’s blanket, mend a broken fence and use it as a belt.

“Well that certainly didn’t go as planned,” is one thing you’ll say quite a bit.

Control is a mere illusion. The thought that you have any, at any given time, is utterly false.
Sometimes sleep is a luxury. So are lunch and dinner. And brushing your hair.

If you’ve never felt your obliques contract, then you’ve never tried stopping an overly full wheelbarrow of horse manure from tipping over sideways. Trust me, you’ll find muscles that you never knew existed on the human skeleton to prevent this from happening.

When one of the animals is ill, you’ll go to heroic lengths to minimize their discomfort.

Their needs come first. In summer heat and coldest winter days. Clean water, clean bed, and plenty of feed. Before you have your first meal, they all eat.

When you lose one of them, even though you know that day is inevitable, you still feel sadness, angst and emotional pain from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. And it’s a heaviness that lingers even though you must regroup and press on.

You’ll cry a lot. But you’ll never live more fully. You’ll remain present no matter what because you must. There is no other option.

You’ll ask for so many miracles and hold out hope until the very last.

You will, at least once, face-plant in the manure pile.

You’ll find yourself saying things like, “we have maybe twenty minutes of daylight left to git ‘er done” whilst gazing up at a nonspecific place in the sky.

You’ll become weirdly obsessive about the weather.

You’ll go out in public wearing filthy clothes and smelling of dirt, sweat and p**p. People will look at you sideways and krinkle their noses but you won’t care.

Your entire day can derail within ten seconds of the rising sun.

You can wash your coveralls. They won’t look any cleaner, but they will smell much nicer.

Farm work is difficult in its simplicity.

You’ll always notice just how beautiful sunrises and sunsets really are.

Should you ever have the opportunity to work on a farm, take the chance! You will never do anything more satisfying in your entire life.

A little over 10 years ago, a 14-year-old girl wanted to raise rabbits—not because she had some grand vision or passion at the time, but because all her friends were doing it. She just wanted to fit in. She wanted to be part of something.

What started as a “me too” moment turned into a journey of dedication, growth, failure, success, and endless learning. Over the years, that same girl—now a 24-year-old woman—has learned more than she ever expected.

She’s poured her heart into her rabbitry, built a program she’s proud of, and grown into someone who no longer seeks approval or validation from anyone else.

This isn’t just the end of a hobby. It’s the closing of a chapter that helped shape who I am today.
While I’m saying goodbye to the rabbits, I’m not walking away empty-handed. I’m walking away with resilience, grit, independence, and the confidence to move forward—toward something even better.

Thank you to those who supported me through it all. Here's to growth, change, and new beginnings. 🐇💫

Ps...and yes, I ugly sobbed when I did the last one🫣🥲💔

Did you know having unlimited access to mud/water is vital for your pigs?

People associate Mud + Pigs = Pigs being filthy animals. Many don't know how important it is tho! Read below why and learn how vital it is.

• Social behavior

Wallowing is a natural instinct and an important social behavior for pigs, who often wallow together in groups. It can encourage a sense of belonging and contribute to a pig's positive mood.

Pigs love to roll in mud primarily because they do not have sweat glands to help regulate their body temperature. When pigs roll in mud, the mud acts as a cooling agent for them. The moisture in the mud helps to lower their body temperature by keeping them cool and preventing them from overheating.

Additionally, rolling in mud serves other purposes for pigs. It can help protect their skin from the sun and insects, act as a barrier against parasites, and provide relief from itching or irritation. The mud can also serve as a form of natural sunscreen, protecting their sensitive skin from sunburn.

While the behavior of pigs rolling in mud is often associated with them being dirty animals, it is actually a natural and instinctual behavior that serves important physiological and behavioral functions for them.

P.s. this pig needs a fam!

Talk Guineas to me!

I tried raising em about 4 years ago but I had dogs come thro and desecrate the majority of my flock, including them.

I figured I'd try again with two (since I've heard they can be loud) but I have no idea how to tell genders etc!

Yes, Pigs Can Be Pets... But They’re Also a Purpose.

I get a lot of messages or derogatory comments asking how I can raise animals with so much love, knowing they may one day become food. The answer is simple: here on my farm, every animal is cared for with respect, compassion, and intention. But love doesn't change the purpose.

Yes, pigs can be sweet, smart, and even feel like pets—but on a working farm, they’re also raised to provide for my family regardless of breed or size.

Meat, food, sustainability—that's part of the life cycle here. It’s not always easy, but it is what’s real.

I know not everyone understands this lifestyle, and that’s okay. I’m not here to seek approval. I’m here to raise animals with dignity and do what’s right for my home, my land, and my family.

Farming isn’t just cute moments and cuddles. It’s commitment, balance, and tough choices. But it’s ours—and I’ll keep doing what’s best for us, no matter what others may think.
