06/08/2026 Hooves and Paws Rescue of the Heartland, Inc. received a memorial donation in honor of a special lady who recently passed away. Along with the donation a beautiful letter from her friend of 50 years telling us who this lady was and what she loved. I am going to be honest; I have read this letter over and over. We all have friends, but some of us are blessed enough to have really good friends.

In the letter her friend wrote to us she shared that her friend who has passed away had a deep love for horses and dogs. So many wonderful things I learned about this lady who although we never met, I feel we would have been good pals.

The memorial donation will be used in her honor to care for those in our Medical Barn who need just a few more things to keep them going strong.

Thank you so much to those who think of us and our animals and take the time to share stories of those who they loved. It means so much to us.

6/07/2026 Billy is having his lunch outside today and "Dave" begs for food worse than the Saint Bernard's do. I looked out and Billy was of course sharing his lunch with Dave❤

You know Dave, you could go inside the garage and there is a bowl of cat food there🤣

06/06/2026 WOW! What a storm that went through last night. Last night was crazy and it has been a crazy day so far.

Power went out last night 10ish. It just came on a few minutes ago. One long night here with no power.

Ryan came out to help this morning. We got one tree taken down. We have someone coming to take down the huge one that fell.
In between all of this we had a load of hay brought in and thankfully we got it unloaded and stacked in the barns, so that is done. I had a record day!! We have one guy load me, I drove the tractor to the barns and Billy, Ryan and Chad stacked hay. I can now manage 10 to 12 bales at a time in the bucket going backwards downhill through the mud🤣 I did not lose one bale today. With the rain overnight it was deep mud and slick going to the barn/barns.

A HUGE thank you to everyone for their help❤

Rain, Rain Go Away! We had to drag the area where we are bringing in hay tomorrow. WOW, what a mess this rain has made. But hopefully with moving the mud, leveling the area out and putting down eight bags of shavings it will dry up enough to be able to drive in to unload hay into the barns tomorrow.

05/31/2026 Today was Billy's first day of vacation. So, we did something crazy and relaxed after caring for the animals, doing chores and feedings. Way to wet to mow the pastures today so he will start that tomorrow while I am at work.
Shown below is one of our sweet cats, David❤with Billy.

Sweet little girl Millie having her breakfast. She’s one of our medical barn horses. She was brought to us from a neglect case by the sheriff's department. She has some medical issues due to her neglect which we treat each day.

This old girl stares me down when I take to much time getting her breakfast ready. She gets a huge scoop twice a day of Nutrena Safe Choice Senior, one scoop of weight builder and one scoop of Probiotics to keep her tummy in check. She has very few teeth left so this seems to help her maintain her perfect figure being over 30 years old.
