This gelding hit his head during transportation from TX to WY, which required stitches.

Due to the history and what I observed during the assessment, I knew my focus needed to be on the head/neck area, and a mixture of massage and craniosacral therapy was indicated.

The trauma to the head caused the head/neck area to be tight and painful, with the tightness traveling along the horse’s topline into the hamstrings.

He responded very well to both the massage and craniosacral techniques, and in order to provide him with a longer lasting effect to the cranial sutures I applied kinesiology tape.

Combining bodywork modalities for the best possible treatment of the horse!

🐾 When did you decide you wanted to work with animals?
I’ve always had a desire to work with animals. Right out of high school I pursued a degree in Equine Science & Management and obtained a riding instructor certification.

Although I initially followed a “safer” career path, my passion for working with horses never went away. I eventually attended equine osteopathy school in Germany. While that program included massage basics and elements of craniosacral therapy, I chose to deepen my knowledge after moving to the U.S., and I continue to expand my education today.

🐾 What animals influenced you most growing up?
Cats and horses.

🐾 What animals do you currently own?
Horses, goats, cats, and a dog.

🐾 What makes your bodywork practice stand out?
I bring a lot of patience to my sessions. This has helped tremendously when working with anxious horses or horses that are reluctant to relax and release tension.

🐾 What message would you like to share with potential clients?
Listen to your horse and trust your gut. Some horses are very good at compensating and won’t clearly show when they are uncomfortable.

Often, that feeling that something isn’t quite right is valid. Our horses deserve great care, and sometimes even small adjustments can make a huge difference.

🐾 What message would you like to share with others thinking about pursuing a career in animal health?

Kinesiology taping was initially developed to support human athletes, and later adapted for the use in horses.
Shown here is Hestaband Lymph by Hestaband by Christa Veinotte, Equine Massage Therapist which supports circulation and helps moving fluids. I have applied it over a little swelling after hitting the side of my knee.
One day later: the swelling is almost completely gone 🙂
