At Mostly Muttz Rescue, it is our passion to save dogs with life-long special needs and acute medical needs as well as healthy, more easily adoptable dogs. We believe that every dog, regardless of health, deserves a fighting chance to live, to love and to be loved for the duration of their lives.

Welcome to Mostly Muttz Rescue, Ham!

Meet Ham, one of the adorable boys from Mama Minky’s Pizza Toppings Litter!

Ham is a smart little guy with a big personality! He’s playful, curious, and loves being on the go. Whether he’s busy exploring his surroundings, playing with his foster siblings, or following his nose toward a tasty treat, Ham is always ready for his next adventure. And because he’s very food motivated, he’s already proving that treats can be a great tool for learning!

When the adventures wind down, Ham is happy to curl up on his foster’s lap—or even snuggle right up on their shoulder. He’s incredibly cute and knows exactly how to turn on the charm!

Ham sleeps through the night right beside his foster’s bed and is very close to being completely crate trained. He’s already off to a wonderful start and is ready to continue learning and growing with his forever family.

Ham will be ready to head home on or after August 30!

Crumb has come an incredibly long way from the very scared little puppy we rescued from a rural shelter in South Carolina. Originally thought to be feral, this girl has spent the past year proving just how worthy she was of the chance she was given.

So, as Crumb turns one this week, we thought it was only fitting to celebrate with a few of her milestone photos—and show you just how far she has come.

We know the magic that can happen when someone gives a dog the chance, time, and patience they need to blossom. Crumb is living proof of that.

Now, she is still searching for the family who will give her that same chance. She will need some time and understanding as she settles in and learns that she is finally home, but we know what is waiting on the other side of that trust.

Some of the scared little puppy we rescued is still in there—but so is the happy, sweet girl she has worked so hard to become.

Happy first birthday, Crumb. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for you.

WE DON’T EVEN HAVE THE WORDS.

Last week, we asked our followers, supporters and family to help us replenish the food supply for our Muttz.

We hoped for 25 bags.

You gave us 194 bags of food — more than 2,900 pounds — plus treats, flea and tick collars, and so many other goodies for our Muttz. We had to stop putting hearts on the dog’s faces in the graphic because we couldn’t keep up!

We are completely overwhelmed in the best way possible.

This was, without a doubt, the best response we have ever had to one of our food drives. What started as a simple request to help fill some very important bowls turned into an incredible outpouring of love and support for the dogs in our care.

And then there were the photos many of you posted. Seeing our MMR alumni in their forever homes while their families donated in their honor absolutely melted us. Seeing those happy faces, knowing that these dogs once needed us and now have families who want to give back to the next dog who needs a chance… well, honestly, it could make us cry happy tears.

This is what rescue is supposed to be.

It’s not just about the dogs we have today. It’s about the lives we have changed, the families we have created, and the people who continue to believe in what we do long after their adopted dog has gone home.

Every bag of food will become full bowls. And every single donation reminded us that we are not doing this alone.

To every person who donated, shared our post, bought something from our wishlists, sent goodies, donated in honor of an MMR alum, or simply cheered us on:

Welcome to Mostly Muttz Rescue, Lucian!

Lucian is a happy, friendly little puppy with a big personality and energy to spare. He’s bold, curious, and adventurous, always ready to see what’s around the next corner. He loves exploring and is especially happy when there are other dogs around to join in the fun.

Lucian has the most adorable way of showing his excitement. He’ll hop around, get himself all worked up, and then drop into a perfect play bow, ready to invite everyone else into whatever adventure he has planned. He absolutely LOVES other dogs and seems to take his cues from them really well. For a puppy with plenty of enthusiasm, he has a surprisingly nice ability to listen and adjust when another dog tells him he’s had enough.

He’s still learning all the basics of being a well-mannered puppy. We don’t think he had much, if any, leash experience before coming into rescue, but he’s learning and making progress. He’s also figuring out that his crate is a good place to relax and settle. Like any puppy, he’ll need continued patience, consistency, training, and plenty of opportunities to burn off that endless supply of puppy energy.

Lucian’s journey to Mostly Muttz Rescue began thanks to a series of caring people who refused to let him and his siblings go without help. An independent rescuer stepped in to get the puppies to safety and then wanted them to have the veterinary care, support, and adoption process that comes with an established rescue. Through a connection made by an animal control officer, the Fuzzy Krew found their way to Mostly Muttz Rescue.

Now Lucian is ready for the next chapter — a family who will help him learn, grow, explore, and become the wonderful adult dog he’s meant to be. He’ll bring plenty of puppy antics along the way, but with that sweet personality and his love for everyone around him, we think he’ll be worth every bit of the chaos.

Lucian is fostered in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania and will be able to join a family on or after 8/30/2026.

Welcome to Mostly Muttz Rescue, Mushroom!

Mushroom is an adorable boy from Mama Minky’s Pizza Toppings Litter! We recently learned that Mushroom is deaf, but he has absolutely no idea that he’s any different. He is doing wonderfully in his foster home, following the other dogs, beginning to learn hand commands, and taking everything in stride.

This little guy is brave, curious, and incredibly smart. The big dogs don’t intimidate him one bit, even when he inevitably gets rolled over during playtime. He can happily entertain himself or jump right into the action with the pack, and he has energy to spare. When he finally runs out of steam, though, Mushroom will curl up and sleep absolutely anywhere.

He is also a total sweetheart who loves to snuggle, especially when he can be tucked in like a little burrito. He understands his crate and goes in easily, making him a pretty impressive little puppy all around.

Mushroom is proof that being different doesn’t mean being limited. He’s busy learning, exploring, playing, and enjoying life just like any other puppy, and he’s ready to find a family who will continue helping him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be.

Mushroom is fostered in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania and will be able to head home with a family on or after August 30.

George is a precious boy who is looking for a special home with patient humans as he is slowly learning that the world isn't all scary. He is easily startled by unexpected noises and movements and would do best in a quiet, calm, and secure home.

George is learning that he is safe and loved and has given lots of tail wags, some play bows, and occasional kisses! He has a gorgeous coat and the cutest little ears. He likes being next to his foster mom on the couch and is starting to play with toys. He's a great work-from-home companion as he is quiet, has been well-behaved, and hasn't needed lots of attention.

He did well sleeping in a crate for the first few nights, but now happily sleeps in bed with his foster mom. He gets along fine with the other dogs in the home, including the senior chihuahua.

George is fostered in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
