Welcome to Mostly Muttz Rescue, Peanut!

At just 4 months old and around 16 pounds, Peanut is the definition of a sweet, easygoing puppy. While many puppies are constantly on the go, Peanut is perfectly content entertaining himself with his favorite toys and chews before wandering over for some affection. He has a gentle, calm nature that makes him a joy to have around.

Peanut can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him a little time and you’ll discover the biggest love bug. He adores kids, enjoys other dogs, is crate trained, and is making great progress with potty training.

Peanut’s story could have ended very differently. Before coming into rescue, he was struck by a motorcycle and suffered fractures to both of his back legs. Thanks to dedicated veterinary care, plenty of rest, and lots of love, he has made an incredible recovery. Today, you would never know what he endured. He is fully healed, pain-free, and embracing everything puppyhood has to offer.

What stands out most about Peanut isn’t what he’s overcome—it’s the sweet, resilient spirit he’s carried through it all. Now, this special boy is ready to leave his difficult past behind and find the loving family he deserves.

Peanut is fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania will be available for adoption on June 5!

Welcome to Mostly Muttz Rescue, Checo!

Checo’s story could have ended very differently. He was surrendered to a veterinary clinic after being brought in with a headband wrapped so tightly around his head that it had become embedded in his skin. Thanks to the care he received and plenty of love along the way, Checo has made a full recovery and is now healthy, happy, and ready to find a family to care for him the way he deserves.

This little guy is truly the total package. Checo is house trained, crate trained, and has excellent manners in the home. He gets along wonderfully with respectful dogs of all sizes and enjoys being part of the action without ever straying too far from his people. Outside, he stays close, comes when called, and is always ready for a tiny adventure.

When he’s not exploring, Checo can usually be found soaking up the sunshine, snuggled into a cozy blanket, or curled up in a soft bed. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves them with his whole heart.

After everything he’s been through, Checo is ready for a family that will cherish him forever. In return, he’ll give them unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and plenty of smiles along the way.

Checo is fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and able to head home with a family on or after 6/13/2026.

Welcome to Mostly Muttz Rescue, Tate!

This 5 1/2 month old beautiful black and white boxer mix is ready to find that perfect forever home and fill it with tail wags and pupply kisses.

He started his "first" day working from home and has the true potential to excel at this task for just a few pieces of kibble and some affectionate pats on the head. He is treat motivated and eager to learn.

If you speak to him, pet or rub his ears he stretches his neck to show off those chin freckles !!

Despite ALL the rainy days on his arrival... He has not had a single accident in the house and has endured the rain and went outside. His crate is dry every morning.

He is comfortable with the leash and does well going outside.

TOYS !! Fetch and run and hard chew bones are his favorites.

His foster brothers are 90 pounds and even The Cat here is bigger than Tate. Therefore, he approaches playing with a big voice and a lot of enthusiasm. After a slow introduction, Tate figured out these big dogs weren't "stealing" his toys ... This was a game.... This is what it's like to have friends and play games and then afterwards snuggle together on the hassock.

Tate is already up to date on vaccinations and neutered in anticipation of his forever home.

Tate is waiting in his foster home in Mohrsville (Berks County) Pennsylavania and will be available 6/5/2026.

One year ago, May 2025 was considered an incredible month for our rescue, with 32 dogs finding their forever homes.

This May, we were absolutely blown away.

During May 2026, 46 dogs found their families: 35 puppies, 6 adults, 2 mamas, and 3 seniors. Not only did we surpass last year’s adoption total by 14 dogs, but we did it while continuing to find homes for dogs of every age and stage of life. Adult, mama, and senior adoptions remained remarkably steady year over year, proving that adopters continue to open their hearts not just to puppies, but also to the dogs who are so often overlooked.

We also received 84 adoption applications throughout the month—a powerful reminder that there are so many compassionate people willing to give a rescue dog the second chance they deserve. Those applications represent hope, and hope is what keeps countless shelter dogs from running out of time.

Another encouraging trend we saw this month was the number of families choosing our foster-to-adopt program. Nine families welcomed dogs into their homes through foster-to-adopt placements, giving both the dogs and adopters time to ensure the match was right. We also celebrated one very special “foster fail” when a foster family officially adopted their foster dog and made their temporary guest a permanent member of the family.

Behind every adoption is a story worth celebrating.

Roscoe was our longest resident to find a home this month, having entered rescue in August 2025. Once a shy dog unsure of the world around him, he spent months gaining confidence with the help of his dedicated foster before finally finding the perfect match.

Not far behind was Dumpling, who came to rescue after the heartbreaking loss of her owner. She spent more than seven months in a loving foster home waiting for someone to recognize just how special she is. This month, that person finally came along.

Gizmo, the oldest senior adopted in May at 12 years old, proved that age is just a number. Before heading home, he tackled bloodwork, grooming, and a neuter like an absolute champion. Today, he’s enjoying the love and comfort of a family of his own.

We also celebrated two particularly meaningful adoptions for dogs who needed families willing to see beyond their challenges. Peppermint, a puppy who was terrified in the shelter environment, found adopters committed to helping him build confidence and discover the joys of being a dog. Tidbit, a young adult rescued from a hoarding situation, needed extra patience, understanding, and training. She found an adopter committed to giving her exactly that.

To every adopter, foster, volunteer, donor, and supporter: thank you. Every application submitted, every transport completed, every donation made, and every dog welcomed into a home plays a role in these happy endings.

The year is only halfway through, and we can’t wait to see how many more lives we can change together.

Welcome to Mostly Muttz Rescue, Trinity!

Trinity has a way of making people fall in love with her almost instantly. Between her adorable toothy smile, her happy-go-lucky personality, and the way her whole body wiggles when she’s excited, she brings a little extra sunshine wherever she goes.

Trinity can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her loving personality shines through. She adores her people and forms strong bonds with them. She’s happiest when she’s close to her family and soaking up attention from those she loves.

She adores people and has even done well with cats at the shelter. While she enjoys companionship, she’s also an independent girl who appreciates her own space. It’s not uncommon for Trinity to wander upstairs for some quiet time and a cozy nap if the rest of the household is busy.

Trinity is wonderfully easygoing and enjoys leisurely walks. She’s calm on leash and makes a fantastic walking companion for anyone looking for a relaxed pace.

She’s also both house-trained and crate-trained, making the transition into her forever home that much easier.

Trinity’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. When she first arrived at Mostly Muttz Rescue, she was pregnant and developed a life-threatening uterine infection. Tragically, she lost her puppies, and for a time, her own survival was uncertain. Thanks to dedicated veterinary care and the unwavering support of her foster family, Trinity fought her way back to health.

Today, she’s healthy, happy, and ready for a fresh start. After everything she’s overcome, Trinity deserves a family who will cherish her for the amazing dog she is.

Trinity is fostered in Douglassville (Berks County), Pennsylvania and is ready to join a furever family!
