Today we had a panel of amazing veterinary behaviorist! There are so many medications options and classes of drugs that can be used in combination for effectiveness.
I, of course don't advise or talk about meds. A general practitioner is not an expert or keeping up with the changing options for meds because they are doing All THE OTHER aspects of dog and cat medicine!
So....I talked to a verinary behavior doc that does Doc to Doc consults, so your vet can get the latest and greatest information!

I need a super strong latte and then I'm ready to get to day two of the Veterinary Behavior Symposium!
All of the information, presentations, and studies presented yesterday had one critical thing in common:
Everything is about treating dogs and cats in a manner that eliminates or greatly reduces their stress so that we can care for, live with and train them.
The presenters were all board certified Veterinary Behaviorist and no where did anyone advocate or mention:. Prong collars, dominance, balanced training, e-collars shock collars...

Is your dog fearful at vet visits? Talk to your vet about pre meds. Many people are hesitant to "drug their dog" but if a pill or 2 can reduce the fear and stress of a vet visit, why not?
