We’re gearing up for Stand Up For Pits on October 12th at Tacoma Comedy Club — a night dedicated to raising awareness, breaking the stigma around pit bull-type dogs, and helping more dogs find their forever homes.

From Rescue to Recovery: Every Kitten Healthy! 🐾

A couple of months ago, we took in eight cats from two separate litters—each in devastating condition. They were underweight, malnourished, covered in ear mites, and battling ringworm. Many needed emergency care and round-the-clock monitoring just to survive.

We did everything we could to save them all. 💔 One tiny kitten fought so hard but didn’t make it. Her memory fuels our fight for the rest.

Thanks to immediate medical intervention, tireless foster care, and a whole lot of love, every surviving kitten is now healthy—and the last two, Beans and Mocha, are finally ready for adoption!

💛 To everyone who has already donated — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kindness has helped us cover over $4,000 in medical bills so far and has truly given these kittens a second chance at life.

We’re close to covering the rest of their care—but we still need help to cross the finish line. Donations will go toward:

🌟 From the Streets to a Safe Forever — Hendrix’s Story 🌟



In 2022, Hendrix was just another forgotten soul wandering the streets of Roswell, New Mexico — alone, scared, and unseen. He ended up in the overcrowded Roswell Animal Shelter, where his life was nearly cut short simply because there wasn’t enough space.

He was placed on the euthanasia list.

But then, a miracle — a foster in Washington stepped up. Hendrix made the long journey north, unsure of what was waiting for him. What he found was safety. Kindness. Patience. In foster care, he slowly began to trust, to feel joy, and to learn what it meant to be a dog again. No more concrete floors. No more fear. No more waiting for time to run out.

Eventually, Hendrix met the family he was meant for — a family that saw his soul and chose to love him forever.

✨ His story could have ended in that shelter. But it didn’t. Because someone said yes.

At NorthWest Wag Rescue, we believe every dog deserves that chance — regardless of breed, age, or past. We stand up for all dogs, because they cannot stand up for themselves. We are their voice.

That’s why we’re proud to be part of the Stand Up for Pits event. It’s more than an event — it’s a reminder that rescue saves lives, and that love sees beyond stereotypes. Whether pit bull, shepherd, Chihuahua, or mutt — they all deserve a shot at the life Hendrix got.

Pit bull-type dogs are some of the most loyal, gentle, and loving companions out there — yet they’re also the most misunderstood. Shelters across the country are full of them, and far too many are never given a chance simply because of how they look.

We’re teaming up with for a night dedicated to breaking that cycle. Join us on October 12th at the Tacoma Comedy Club for Stand Up for Pits — an evening of laughter, love, and life-saving advocacy for dogs who need us to speak up. 🐾💙

Why it matters:
Pit bull–type dogs face some of the highest euthanasia rates in shelters due to outdated stereotypes and misconceptions. Many never get the chance to show how loving, loyal, and goofy they truly are. Every year, thousands of pit bull-type dogs sit in shelters — often overlooked, labeled, or euthanized simply because of misunderstanding and outdated stereotypes. These incredible dogs are some of the most loyal, loving, and resilient companions you'll ever meet — but they face longer shelter stays and fewer adoption opportunities because of the stigma.

The Stand Up for Pits Foundation, created by advocate , is working to change that. And so are we.

Maxesote is a 3-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix, weighing just 14 lbs and full of love! This sweet boy was rescued from a park in Guadalajara and has blossomed in foster care. He’s neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, 4DX tested, and house-trained—ready for his forever home!

🧸 Maxesote LOVES people, enjoys kids, and does best with female dogs. His gentle nature and affectionate soul make him the perfect companion for a calm, loving home.

After surviving a heartbreaking hoarding situation, Grace has slowly learned what love, safety, and trust truly mean. This gentle 3-year-old Dachshund mix, weighing just 18 lbs, is ready to find her forever home. 💫

Grace is a soft soul who thrives in calm, peaceful environments. She’s potty trained, walks beautifully on leash, and loves other dogs—especially ones who can show her the ropes. While she’s shy at first, once she trusts you, she’ll be your quiet shadow, following you from room to room and laying nearby with a heart full of gratitude. 💕

From the streets of New Mexico to a forever home in the PNW — Bruce’s story is one of resilience, trust, and the life-saving power of saying yes. 💙🐾

Bruce was found wandering the streets, just another forgotten stray trying to survive. When he entered the shelter, he completely shut down — scared, silent, and unsure if the world had anything good left to offer.

Like so many pit bull-type dogs in overcrowded shelters, Bruce ended up on the euthanasia list — not because of who he was, but because there simply wasn’t space. His time was up... until someone in Washington said, “We’ll take him.”

Thanks to an incredible foster, Bruce was brought to WA, where he slowly began to come back to life. He learned that hands can be kind, voices can be gentle, and people can be safe. He opened up. He wagged his tail. And eventually — he found his forever family.

This is why we Stand Up for Pits.
