Ida (pink girl) from the Driftwood A litter also got mail recently after earning some new titles at the LCA Nationals a few months ago! Ida passed the Canine Good Citizen test for her AKC CGC title, and earned her AKC Novice Trick Dog title. She also earned an AKC Puppy of Achievement certificate! 🩷🏆

Congratulations to both boys from the Driftwood A litter for passing their Canine Good Citizen tests and earning their AKC CGC titles! Sarge (green boy) and Seamus (blue boy) are such sweet handsome boys, and make friends everywhere they go. 💚💙

When we say the Leonberger is a slow to mature breed, that is often hard for those new to the breed to understand exactly what we mean. Yes these puppies get big fast, especially in the first year, but there are many changes that happen more subtly over the first few years. As adolescence hits, there are two things that tend to go on vacation….brains, and rear angulation. Luckily these both tend to come back as pups start to slowly mature, but it can take a good year or more (especially for the boys!). Watching these giant pups mature is a beautiful although often awkward thing, but they always make it worth the wait. Here’s a good example of those changes with Duncan, the resident teenager who’s slowly maturing into a handsome young man (still waiting on the brain though) 😆❤️

Happy 10th birthday to Murphy! 🥳
The wild man with a heart of gold, that taught us what it means to be a turboberger. Everyone who loves the giant breeds knows that reaching double digits isn’t always a guarantee, so I’m thrilled and proud to see Murf happily celebrating this very special day. His age has been catching up to him a bit more lately, but he is loving “retirement” and still ensures he causes some sort of mischief each day. He’s also been enjoying passing on all of his wisdom and tricks to the younger generation of pups….*yay* 🙃😆

Happy 4th of July from Driftwood Leonbergers! 🇺🇸🐾
This holiday always reminds me of our first Leo, Gulliver (Gully). Gully was our introduction to Leos and a tough act to follow, as he was the best boy in every way. He was an AKC Champion, beloved Pet Partners Therapy Dog at the hospital, and an amazing ambassador for the breed. One of his favorite things though was to pull his cart in the local 4th of July parades, as he was sure they were for him. We did all three of the local 4th of July parades over the years with various groups…he proudly marched alongside screaming kids, horses, classic cars, other dogs, loud bands and dancing groups, fire trucks …he never put a paw wrong and happily hauled everything from kids to candy in his cart.
