Hello everyone,

I wanted to provide a quick update on my recovery. First, thank you again for all of the prayers, messages, calls, comments, and support. Your kindness has meant more to me than I can adequately express.

While I had hoped to be back to work sooner, my recovery is taking a little longer than expected. After discussions with both my medical team and my neurosurgeon, it has been strongly recommended that I take additional time to rest and heal before returning to work.

I have several follow-up appointments scheduled this coming week, and I will be waiting for the green light from my neurosurgeon before resuming my normal schedule. If all goes well and my neurosurgeon feels it is safe, I am hopeful to return to work the following week.

As difficult as it is for me to be away from my patients and clients, I know that allowing my body the time it needs to heal now will help ensure I can safely return and continue caring for your animals for years to come.

I will continue to be available by call or text as I am able, and my online pharmacy remains open for medication orders and refills.

Thank you all for your continued patience, understanding, prayers, and support. I am incredibly blessed to have such wonderful clients and friends, and I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Hi BVS Family 💙

I wanted to share a quick personal update with you all. I will be out of the office from May 20th through May 29th for surgery and recovery. These dates may shift a little depending on how things go, but I’ll keep you updated.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve been dealing with some health concerns, including stroke-like symptoms, and after working closely with my doctors, we’ve decided surgery is the best next step.

This isn’t easy for me because you all mean so much to me—not just as clients, but as people I truly care about. I’m so grateful for the trust you place in me every day.

Even while I’m recovering, please don’t hesitate to call or text if you have questions, concerns, or need to schedule an appointment. I may be a little slower to respond, but I will get back to you as soon as I can. My online pharmacy will also remain open and available during this time for any medication needs.

Thank you so much for your patience, kindness, and support—it truly means the world to me. I’m looking forward to getting through this and being back with you all soon.

— Dr. Barker 💙

With Spring right around the corner many pet owners will be sprucing up their gardens, planting new flowers, and tending to their plants. Here are some common flowers that are toxic to animals.

1) Lilies: DEADLY. Even in small amounts these flowers can cause severe, irreversible kidney failure, in cats. All parts of the lily plant, including the pollen and eater in the vase, are harmful/deadly. Avoid having lilies in your home altogether.

2) Tulips: Can cause significant digestive upset in both dogs and cats. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and drooling. The highest concentration of these toxins is found in the bulbs.

3) Daffodils: Ingesting daffodils can cause abdominal pain, severe vomiting, cardiac arrhythmias, and convulsions in pets. Bulbs are most toxic.

4) Azaleas: Toxins can disrupt the normal functioning of the heart and skeletal muscles. Symptoms include vomting, diarrhea, weakness, and in severe cases, coma or death.

5) Oleander: Extremely toxic!! Can cause severe heart irregularities, vomiting, and even death. Every part of the oleander is toxic, including the leaves, flowers, and stems.

**If your pet ever ingests any of these flowers/plants, contact BVS immediately. You can also contact
