Nestled between some bends of the Little Bighorn River my animals and I found our little paradise. Over the years the family grew and still is.

If I can’t offer sanctuary then I will sure help to find a soft landing for whatever comes our way.

While waiting for the parts to fix my leaking laundry, using a puppy pad for now to not have a mess, I just found out my bathroom faucet is leaking too, and that since quite a while obviously. Sheit!
So I’m hoping to find tomorrow something at HD to replace it.
And I really hope the damage didn’t make it all the way into the floor. 😳

Day 7 of my annual ‘get some s**t done’ leave and I finally made it up on the roof, finished 6 more running ft on each side, incl blocking.
I ordered half round gutter with shanks for exposed rafters. The gutter is a temporary thing, and I do not want to remount the K-style gutter in a year or so when the porch and its roof is ready. Half round, simple, no kinks or corners, easier to reseal.
One more 8’ panel on the west side and I am ready to set another post and beam, the last ones I have.
Material runs suck right now, but … it is what it is.

Day 1 … wow did I get sidetracked 😂
Started late, pulled out the roofing panels to let them dry up. Then started to look for my roofing screws in the back of my storage truck. Ended up to start cleaning that out, spreading things everywhere around me.
Looking at it I remembered I wanted to set up the two small storage sheds I bought.
So I went and pulled the first box out, put the bottom frame together, and then thought shoot, I need a better foundation for that.
So wheelbarrow and hauling roadbase, setting some treated 4x4 in place and boards on top.
Then went ahead with the shed assembly 🤬🤬 and ran out of arms and hands and had to get creative in order to put it together by myself.
Well, almost there. Will finish that tomorrow and then go back to the roof.
Geeeez!!

Just refilled my lure traps for Yellow Jackets and wasps. It really worked, I had hardly any this year and was happy about it. 🐝
Easy mix, easy refill, big outcome!
Last year I ran into a so called ‘doorman’ of a yellow jacket colony and holy smoke, he nailed me good right in my face.
Boric Acid, orange juice, cat food.
Not attracting honey bees, but the flying meat eaters bring the poison back to feed the colony and … pooof … 💀
Safer environment for me and my critters!

Get to play today with my new gadget. Might drop much less screws of the roof 😂 Great for roofing screws and Simpson Strong Tie fasteners. Strooooong magnet included!

UPDATE!
The babes will be picked up next Sunday and go up to Wilsall. I will keep this around here very quiet. Just the property owner knows and asked me to do so. I don’t want nobody to just swing by and grab a c**t.

The fire from a while ago pushed many animals out of the 15.000 acres area, including a lot of horses, mainly strays.
20 of them ended up here in the bottom on my neighbors pasture.
All sudden they vanished again, but leaving behind 4 dead adult horses, and 4 yearlings/weanlings, hard to tell.
One was by himself staying with a dead black mare. Once she was removed he desperately tried to get in with the others and I helped a little.
Now there they have water and can rest. I am in touch with Prairie Song Rescue to see if the babes can be picked up and get the hell outta Dodge. I do not see a bright future for them here.

The damage is now all in the open and I will have to rebuilt the addition’s floor due to water damage. Leaking gutter and and a bill board tarp I never should have put on instead of the sheating I had on before. 🤬🤯
It is what it is. The beams are thanks god in sections I can undo and replace. Not a big deal, the joists the same, cut out and replace as needed.
I am finishing the roof over first until the end, brace it and put temporary gutter on. If still time, enough time, I might start this in sections, incl walls and roof. We’ll see!
Lots of money burned, lots of hours put in.
But between loosing John, then Two Moons and her seizures and letting go, Boots declining, then the loss of Frost, and everything being upside down for the last 3 years, I am surprised I made it that far with the roof over 👀
I am getting there, slowly but steady, and I am used to setbacks my whole life anyway, so WTF. 😂

My yearly scary movie, which I skipped last year, and I guess the year before that too: drain and flush my water heater!
Since my well turned postal on me and came back with E.coli positive (uranium not detected!) I shock chlorinated the well a week ago. Cold water smells fine again, but the hot water smells now like something from the past, I think I remember this smell from hair dye. Weird!
So I am gonna flush and then insert some chlorine into the tank and let it sit for 24hrs, the hot water pipes included and see if I can get rid of it.
Ordered a new rod as well to change next week.

Too windy and later too wet to go on with the roof. In order to not sit and wiggle my thumbs I cracked one of my lumber piles open and started the wood floor in my hay shed.
This rough sawn lumber was meant for my addition but has been cut quite out of measures. I kept it anyway, there is always something to built even on a windy rainy one.
