Another amazing perk of this work is that sometimes families welcome my babies along for the adventure.

And by babies, I mean my dogs. 🐾❤️

One of the reasons I left social work was because I was always gone. I spent years caring for others while missing the little moments with the ones I was working for waiting for me at home. As much as I loved the children and families I was supporting, I hated being away from mine.

Now, every so often, a family says, "Bring the dogs!"

Those days are the best.

They get extra walks, kisses, new smells, belly rubs, and plenty of attention, while I get the peace of mind that comes from having them close by. Not every family is a fit for it, and that's completely okay, but when it works, it's such a special gift.

To the families who have welcomed my four-legged kids into their homes and adventures, thank you. It means more than you probably realize.

Being a nanny comes with a lot of wonderful perks, but getting to spend more time with my babies while doing work I love is definitely near the top of the list. 🐶💕

One unexpected perk of this business?

I get drafted onto some pretty amazing sidelines.

One day I'm helping build a blanket fort. The next I'm cheering from the bleachers, squinting into the sun, trying to remember whether that was a triple, a double, or just a really enthusiastic run around the bases.

I may not always understand every rule, but I do understand the look on a child's face when they spot someone in the crowd who came just for them.

So here's to muddy cleats, early mornings, lawn chairs that should have retired years ago, and all the little moments that remind kids they're supported.

I genuinely love getting to watch my nanny kids grow into confident, capable humans—whether that's on a field, a court, a stage, or anywhere else they decide to shine. ⚾🏀⚽💙

Okay White Mountain Nanny village… I need your honest opinion. 🍂

I have an "old woody"-style teardrop camper that I’ve been thinking about turning into something special for childcare — a cozy, imaginative “fort on wheels” type space for storytelling, quiet play, regulation, outdoor adventures, reading, nature exploration, and memory-making. Think nostalgic childhood magic meets calm, intentional care.

One idea I keep coming back to is:

✨ The Village Fort ✨

I love the feeling of it — warm, safe, imaginative, community-centered — but I’d genuinely love public feedback before I lean into it more.

What does “The Village Fort” make you think of? Does it sound inviting? Would it catch your attention as a parent? Any ideas, thoughts, or name suggestions? How about overall thoughts and or any concerns with the idea?

We’re kicking off the Summer Experience Series with a thoughtfully curated coastal day at Ferry Beach State Park on June 24th.

This intentionally small-group experience is designed for connection, confidence, and calm exploration in a beautiful natural setting. Children will be gently guided through shoreline exploration, collaborative play, natural discovery, shared meals, and meaningful peer connection — all at a pace that feels calm, supportive, and unrushed.
