May is National Pet Month, a time to reflect on the deep connection we share with the animals we love. Our pets are part of our lives in ways that words can hardly capture. They are our companions, our comfort, and in many cases, our reason to smile on the hardest days. ❤️

At CCADT, we understand how much our pets mean to us. That’s why we work year-round to protect animals during disasters. Whether it’s wildfires, floods, or other emergencies, our mission is to make sure pets stay safe and with the people who love them.

National Pet Month is not just about celebration.
It is a reminder to plan ahead.

One small action can make a big difference in an emergency.
✔️Double check ID tags,
✔️Put together a pet go-bag,
✔️Talk with your family about how you will keep your animals safe if you ever need to evacuate.

Loving our pets means being ready.
This month, let’s honor that love by preparing to protect them, no matter what comes our way.

This Thursday, April 30th is the deadline to register for our first volunteer recruitment in Ridgecrest, CA. We want to build a solid team to help when evacuated pets and their families need us most during disasters. Click on this link: https://bit.ly/VolOrientationRidgecrest

Our connection to Kern County runs deep. In 2016, Kern County Animal Services requested our help during the Erskine Fire to help displaced pets at the Red Cross shelter set up at Kernville Elementary School. Fast forward to 2024 - the Borel Fire. CCADT was in Ridgecrest setting up an emergency pet shelter at Burroughs High School while also operating a secondary emergency pet shelter in Tehachapi.

Now, we are working to build a strong local Ridgecrest team ready to respond when animals and their families need us most.

The workshop is FREE, and there is no obligation to join — but we hope you’ll come learn more, meet us, and see how you can make a difference.

Because in a disaster, every trained volunteer matters — and every animal deserves a safe place to go.

Happy National Pet Day! 🐾

Our pets fill our homes with laughter, our laps with warmth, and our hearts with a love that's truly unconditional. They show up for us every single day — and today is a perfect reminder to show up for them too.

This National Pet Day, we're asking one simple question: Is your pet part of your emergency plan?
Whether it's a natural disaster, evacuation, or unexpected crisis, having a plan that includes your furry, feathered, or scaly family members can make all the difference when it matters most.

📋 Visit CCADT.org to access resources and get started today.

Because the ones who love us most deserve a plan too.

When disasters happen, animals and families require immediate help. We need dependable, compassionate people who can help support evacuation, emergency sheltering, animal care, and reunification efforts when every minute counts.

This is not ordinary animal rescue. Our work requires specialized training for safety purposes, so volunteers are prepared to respond appropriately in disaster situations involving animals, owners, emergency personnel, and changing conditions.

If you have been thinking about getting involved, now is the time as we prepare for wildfire season. Register today to secure a spot. There is no cost to attend.

If you have questions, please email [email protected].

Please share to anyone you think would be interested in attending. Thank you!
