Sasha is a breathtakingly beautiful Cane Corso, 1 to 2 years old, who is ready to find her forever home. With her stunning, expressive eyes, Sasha is a total love. She is still young and at the perfect age for training and bonding. Like many intelligent dogs, she was initially unsure of the bustling shelter environment, but once she has time to settle in and get out of her kennel, she is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people. She just needs a devoted family to show her the world is a safe and fun place. Sasha seems to be good with other dogs, making her a possibility for a home with canine companionship. The Fredericksburg SPCA is hosting a free Kitten Training session on July 12 at noon in their community room. Led by the Animal Care Manager and Foster Coordinator, the training will cover:

😽How to care for kittens aged 0–8 weeks
😾Common illnesses and concerns during early development

Spring is here! And with that comes a warning about Leptospirosis, a disease caused by infection with Leptospira bacteria.

All dogs are at risk of leptospirosis, regardless of age, breed, lifestyle, geographic location, time of year, and other factors. The following situations can increase that risk:

➡Exposure to or drinking from slow-moving or stagnant water sources, like ponds, rivers, lakes, or streams
➡ Roaming on rural properties (because of exposure to potentially infected wildlife or farm animals or urine-contaminated water sources)
➡ Exposure to wild animals (especially rodents) or farm animals, even if in the backyard
➡ Contact with other dogs (such as in urban areas, dog parks, or boarding or training facilities)
