Official Statement

Subject: Clarification Regarding Adoption Matter

The Barbado da Terceira Club USA Board has reviewed documentation and is aware that inaccurate information regarding dog adoption has circulated within the dog community.
We wish to clarify the following facts, that we have confirmed with documentation, for the record:
• The dog’s prior bite history was disclosed to the adopter before placement and is documented.
• The Club provided extensive post-placement support, including free professional behavioral guidance and consultation with an internationally recognized trainer several times, extensive financial support, and free one-month in-home training, the latter of which was turned down. This is not an exhaustive list.
• The Club maintains written protocols for disclosure, safety, and responsible placement consistent with responsible breed stewardship.
This matter is being addressed directly by the Club. No action or response is required from recipients of this message.

The Club is addressing this matter directly. We will not engage in public debate regarding private adoption matters.
