Team Juno is Retiring!

Juno is a 13-year-old Labrador Retriever. She has worked as therapy dog for 11 years. Team Juno transferred to Wags for Hope in 2021 and we have appreciated their commitment to their new community. Joette and Juno have touched many lives as a therapy dog team. We wish Juno a long, treat filled retirement.

Affectionally known as "Woodie."

Woodie, the handsome Belgian Tervuren Shepherd, and his handler Judy Whelan have been with Wags for Hope since 2021.

The hard work of team Woodie has been recognized by the American Kennel Club, and we at Wags for Hope celebrate their efforts as well! Woodie has received his Canine Good Citizen (CGC), his Tricks Novice (TKN) and his Therapy Dog Novice (THDN) titles from the AKC. Way to go team Woodie!

We are excited to announce that our new therapy dog, Team Marshall, has successfully passed their evaluation and is now part of the Wags For Hope family. Team Marshall recently visited Spring Arbor, bringing joy and comfort to everyone they met.

On Friday, June 23rd Wags for Hope Therapy Dog Teams visited Phoenix Recovery Academy to provide comfort and emotional support to students and staff.

The therapy dogs interacted with the students, offering a calming presence and helping to alleviate stress. This visit was part of the academy's efforts to enhance the mental well-being of its community through animal-assisted therapy.

Today was a Pawsome time at Thurmont Regional Library. The excitement as children gathered around for the special "Read to a Therapy Dog" event. The stars of the day was Woodie and Sparkle The Therapy Dog , with a wagging tails and a love for stories.

Parents watched with smiles as their children engaged in this unique experience. The library echoed with laughter and joy, making it a day to remember. Truly, the Read to a Therapy Dog event was furtastic, leaving everyone looking forward to the next pawsome gathering at the library.

Congratulations Connie and Team CoCo for passing the Advanced CGC test!

The Advanced Canine Good Citizen (CGCA) test, also known as the AKC Community Canine test, is a higher-level certification that builds on the skills from the basic CGC test. It evaluates a dog's ability to demonstrate good manners and obedience in real-world community settings.
The test includes tasks such as walking through a crowd, behaving politely in public spaces, waiting at doors, and remaining calm around distractions. Passing the CGCA test shows that a dog is well-behaved in various public environments and can be trusted to act appropriately in more challenging situations.

If you see Team CoCo please congratulate them.

Middletown Library buzzes with excitement as children gather for a special program: "Reading to a Therapy Dog." The initiative, designed to help young readers improve their skills, has quickly become a beloved event in the community.

The "Reading to a Therapy Dog" program at the Middletown Library had not only helped children improve their reading skills but also created a community of young readers who looked forward to their visits. The therapy dogs, with their unwavering patience and warmth, became beloved figures at the library, proving that sometimes the best listeners have four legs and a wagging tail.
