Jenn’s Uncommon Critters is a Frederick, MD based 501(c)(3) Nonprofit rescue & education program focusing on reptiles, invertebrates, & small mammals. We offer rescue services along with interactive animal education programs for birthday parties, small groups, summer programs, and so much more. Our Mission: To provide a safe place for animals in need and an educational experience for children and adults with reptiles, invertebrates, and small mammals. Our Vision: To rescue animals in need and teach people of all ages the value and care of animals of all species by emphasizing proper husbandry, responsible conservation of species and natural environments, and the unique features and talents that a variety of species bring to the ecological diversity of our world.

Vote for us!!!

Starting tomorrow, 6/2 through 6/30, come to Fetch Thrift Shop during business hours (closed Mondays) and vote for your favorite rescue that we will support next! Voting is free! Get your ticket from the register.

The rescue contestants include:

Leaps and Squeaks
Jellybean Rescue
Friends For Life Cat Rescue
Lonely Hearts Animal Rescue
Brave Babes Animal Rescue

1st place- The rescue with the most votes by June 30th end of day gets an automatic $600 and will be our July rescue to support!

2nd place- The rescue with the second most votes gets an automatic $400 and will be our August rescue to support!

3rd place- The rescue with the third most votes gets an automatic $200 and will be our September rescue to support!

4th place- This rescue will automatically be our October rescue to support!

5th place- This rescue will automatically be our November rescue to support!

While completing our outdoor work we came across lots of native critters like this toad, jumping spider, and resident black snake known as Banner. Banner was safely moved from his basking spot on our neighbor's trailer back to our yard (he lives under our shed) so our neighbor could go to the store.

The look of a cozy, happy, senior piggie. 💚 This lovely lady, Snickers, has been with us for nearly 3 years as a sanctuary resident. We love that she feels confident and cozy enough to relax while we are working in the basement.

*Please note that our small mammals rescue program closed in October 2025. While we still have our Sanctuary friends and Animal Ambassadors, we are not taking in small mammals.
