A great opportunity to say THANK YOU to the ones that gave us a hand and helped us "Save a Life" during almost 5 years of amazing work as a team to make a difference in our community. As of Nov 1st Animal Control will no longer be called Animal Control, a new Administration took over our beloved shelter and lots of changes have already been put into place. No longer Shots to the pets in the community, no longer help and compassion for the owners of older pets that needed to go to dog heaven, no longer walking dogs and giving them fun while at the shelter, no longer focus on adoptions. But as of November 1st we delivered to the new administration empty cages and EVERY ANIMAL at the Shelter was placed in forever homes, fosters and rescues.. Changes are part of new governments. But in the process they forgot to say THANK YOU to John Hook a Director that worked day and night to help the Community and every single animal in it. A Director that reduced the euthanasia process over 56%, a Director that saw the benefits in Transports, Return to Owners and Adoptions and adopted them as the main goal of his administration. As volunteers the Campaign "Save a Life" wouldn't be possible without his amazing support.. THANK YOU to Noah's Ark and their Team for helping us in emergencies, Spay/Neuter, Health Certificates, etc. without hesitation or worrying about charges., but focused always about the animals in our community. THANK YOU" to Margie Sweeney and Richard Sweeney, Kimberly Stevenson, Sachenka Angel, Caroline Hook, Debby Dillon and every single foster parent, to every one that adopted a cat or dog in our shelter. THANK YOU to big partners like Paula's Pet Paradise, ARF in Jackson County, Asheville Humane Society, Common Sense for Animals, Brandee Garland, Mary Adams,Bettie Ashby, Grace Balcom Phillips, Fiona Duffell, The Estes Fam, Kaleb Xander, Ken Alter, Tyfanee Fortuna , Pat Thomas, Charlene St. John, Trina Baxter Rhyme and more that helped our little shelter be on the map of several rescues, for the compassion to the animals. Macon County Animal Control will no longer exist but the amount of animals adopted, rescued, fostered and transported as far as Canada will ever be THANKFUL as well as their new families! Happy Thanksgiving!!
