🐾 Creating Better Spaces for Shelter Dogs to Play, Learn & Thrive 🐾

One of Cowtown Friends’ goals is to improve the outdoor spaces where dogs get to spend precious time out of their kennels and with volunteers.
One example is the play structures we purchased last year for both the Fort Worth Animal Care & Control Silcox and Henry Animal Campus locations.

These structures are used every single day and provide dogs with opportunities for enrichment, stimulation, exploration, and perhaps most importantly building confidence.

For a dog who may spend much of their day in a kennel, that time outside matters. Having interesting things to climb on, explore, and interact with helps make their time in the yard more engaging and gives our volunteers another way to connect with them.

And projects like these are only possible because of YOU. ❤️

🐶 WHAT IS PUPPY YOGA?

Join us for a joyful all-levels yoga class where adorable adoptable rescue puppies roam, tumble, play, and snuggle their way through your entire flow. Downward dog just got a whole new meaning. 🐕🧘

Before and after class you’ll have the chance to meet even more puppies looking for their forever homes. Come with an open mat — and maybe an open heart. 💛

In collaboration with our friends at Cowtown Friends of FWACC every puppy in the room is available for adoption and every ticket helps provide rescue animals with veterinary care and a path to a loving forever home. 🐾

What makes Cowtown Friends special is that we never set out to become something big. We started with three volunteers who saw a need and cared enough to do something about it.

That passion has grown into a community of people who believe shelter pets deserve every opportunity to thrive. But we know we cannot do this work alone.

Our partnership with the incredible staff at Fort Worth Animal Care & Control is at the heart of everything we do. They see the needs firsthand, and together, we find ways to provide extra support, create new opportunities, and make a bigger difference for the animals in their care.

We are incredibly proud of how far we have taken this mission, and even more grateful for everyone who has helped us along the way.

This past weekend’s Mega Adoption Event with Fort Worth Animal Care & Control was one for the books! 🧡 45 dogs found their forever homes and 4 more went into foster care. Cowtown Friends was honored to help make the event special by purchasing the circus-themed decor and providing lunch for staff both days.

We love supporting adoption events! Last month, we also purchased decor and pizza for volunteers and staff for National Adoption Weekend.

Life-saving foster needed for 7 newborn puppies at Fort Worth Animal Care & Control! They sadly won’t make it if they stay at the shelter as they need 24 hour care.

Seven tiny Terrier mix puppies are looking for a foster home where they can receive the care they need to thrive.

These puppies are only 3 days old, which means they are still unweaned and will need bottle feeding, warmth, and close monitoring. Caring for neonatal puppies can be a rewarding experience, and our team will provide guidance and support along the way.

Puppy Details:
• 7 Terrier mix puppies
• 3 days old
• Small breed
• Average weight: 0.94 lbs.
• Shelter provides supplies

Meet Ellie 🖤🤍

A wonderful volunteer had the honor of hosting sweet Ellie for a sleepover over a few days this week to give her a much deserved break from shelter life.

She is dog friendly. She is submissive with play style and very friendly toward anyone and everyone. Loves play tug of war and was catching on to fetch in our time with us, slowly learning to retrieve. She loves playing with toys on her own as well, and enjoys relaxing close to you with a chew bones/toy.

Knows her name and often tilts her head when you say it. She also knows sit, this girl is extremely smart and eager to learn!! Was catching on to “off” and “stay” in our time together. She just wants to please. Ellie is crate trained, whining only briefly and then quickly settling for the entire night, sleeping soundly without stirring.

If anyone is looking for their next foster or forever dog, she would be such an amazing one. ❤️ Someone scoop her up!

Ellie (A0060981052) is 2 years old, 46 lbs, spayed female, found stray on May 13th, and available for adoption, foster, or rescue.

Luka had a doggy day out and much needed break from the shelter thanks to an amazing volunteer!!

This sweet boy is URGENT due to capacity for being at the shelter for 93 days 💔 He needs a hero to save him!

They said: He loves water and had lots of fun splashing around in the pool shallows and was thrilled when the sprinklers came on. 🤗 he dries very quickly due to his short hair. Running around the yard, doing perimeter checks, and eating treats were all on the agenda for the day. He didn’t react when he saw my cat in the window. 🐈‍⬛ He hopped in and out of the truck, like a champ! He’s a sweet boy and would love to find his forever home.

Luka (A0060899754) is 8 years old, 59 lbs, neutered male, owner surrendered for moving on April 30th, and available for adoption, foster, or rescue.
