🎉🐶 RILEY FOUND! 🐶🎉

I was contacted a couple of days ago to help search for Riley, an older Chow mix who went missing in the Cresson area. I spent 2-3 hours searching the large rural area west of the owners’ property with no luck. The next morning, the owners sought the help of a scent tracking dog, and they searched an area where there was (what was later found to be erroneous) an AirTag ping several miles southeast. That search was also unsuccessful. The owners asked if I could come back out again last night, and I decided to reach out to my local network of thermal drone operators to maximize efficiency, and Shon Hanna from Night Owl Thermal Recon decided to join the cause and help out. I decided to focus my search effort on the area to the south, and not long into the search, I came across a heat signature that looked like it could be Riley, but even with the bright search light, the thick tree branches made it difficult to positively identify exactly what it was. I decided to pin the general location for reference later but continue searching the surrounding area. Fast forward a couple of battery swaps between my M3T and Shon’s M30T, and Shon got a positive ID on Riley a short ways away from the earlier suspected sighting. The owners split up to take separate routes to make sure they could get to her. In about 15 minutes, they got to her while we kept the drones in the air to monitor the area. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the team to help facilitate Riley’s safe return!

We were called out to the Dallas area to facilitate a search for a lost dog who was recently rescued. Unfortunately, after several hours of searching, we had to terminate the search without finding the missing dog. However, we were able to provide the lost dog owner with a detailed map highlighting the areas that had been searched, a tool that will hopefully streamline ongoing search efforts; in cases like these where the animal isn’t located, it can still be helpful to know where the animal *isn’t* located.

(The dogs pictured were found using our thermal drone in an open field/creek area, and they were likely associated with nearby homeless camps we also found.)

Had the opportunity to support a local DFW roofing client with an aerial thermal inspection of a fire station. We identified several areas with suspected moisture issues. The city is planning on building a new fire station and vacating this one in the next few years, so they only want to replace so many roof squares on this building. With this thermal data, the roofing company can optimize the repair job accordingly.

Had the opportunity to participate in another search (a dog named Tater) early this morning in the Decatur area alongside professional pet detectives with tracking dogs. Using our thermal drone, we were able to survey well over 200 acres surrounding the residence in under 2 hours. Unfortunately, during our portion of the search, there was no sign of the dog around the property (but we did see a ton of deer and livestock in the surrounding area). But even though we weren’t able to locate the dog, our search effort provided the owner with actionable information to streamline search efforts going forward. We are hopeful that Tater will turn up soon!
