Today is National Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Driving home from an appointment the other day, I was gifted a beautiful reminder in the sky—a rainbow.

After helping another beloved companion peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge, seeing it there felt like a visible sign of why I do this kind of care.

It is my calling—to help beloved pets pass peacefully, surrounded by the people who love them most. 🌈

This looks like such a wonderful event hosted by the Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital!
What a special way to honor and remember the beloved pets who mean so much to us.

In honor of National Pet Memorial Day, Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital invites the community to remember and celebrate the pets who have touched our lives. Whether your loss is recent or many years past, you are welcome to join us for an afternoon of remembrance and reflection. Members of the veterinary community are also invited.

The Community Pet Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 13th, 2026 @ 2pm at Foster Park Pavilion 1 (3900 Old Mill Rd Fort Wayne, IN 46802).

Leashed, well-mannered pets are welcome.

No RSVP is required.

If you would like your beloved pet to be included in the memorial slideshow, email a photo to [email protected]. Please include your pet's name exactly as you would like it displayed.

A casual memorial walk through Foster Park will follow the ceremony, weather permitting.

This event is free and open to the community.

Please direct any questions to Courtney Sutliff, MSW, LCSW Veterinary Social worker via above email or at NIVES 260-426-1062.

Ninety-nine.

That's how many of these small metal tags I've used since starting Peaceful Passing.

To many, it seems like just a metal tag. To me, these tags represents a beloved pet entrusted to my care for individual cremation. Before each pet begins that journey at Nature's Way Pet Aftercare, I carefully place one of these tags with them to ensure they are respectfully identified and cared for every step of the way.

As I prepare to use the 100th tag, my heart is filled with gratitude for every family who has trusted me during such a tender time. It is a privilege I never take for granted.

Behind every tag is a name, a story, and a love that will never be forgotten.

Today is a very special day for Peaceful Passing.

Twenty years ago today, my dream came true as I graduated and became a veterinarian. The oath I took that day — to serve with compassion, relieve suffering, and care for animals — has guided me every day since.

What an honor, and dream come true, it has been to care for so many beloved pets and the people who love them.

Here at Peaceful Passing, we’re so excited for some warmer weather! With spring upon us, many families are looking forward to getting back outside and being active again.

Mack and Cubby enjoy their walks year-round. Therefore, even at 12 years old, Cubby the Pomeranian was more than ready to hit the trails today!

If your pet took it easy over the winter months, remember to ease back into an exercise routine gradually. Starting slow helps prevent soreness and reduces the risk of injury—especially for our senior companions.

Today Peaceful Passing is celebrating National Golden Retriever Day with one of our very own mascots—Mack 💛
Like so many Golden Retrievers, Mack embodies everything we love about this breed: gentle hearts, loyal companionship, and a deep, comforting presence. We’re honored to walk alongside families who share their lives with dogs like our own sweet Mack.
