National Dog Day

Your home doesn’t need a whole makeover.

Sometimes it just needs one really good find.

A funky lamp.
The perfect side table.
A piece of art you can’t stop staring at.
That chair that somehow makes the whole room work.

With 4 showrooms to explore, Family Traditions is the kind of place you come into looking for one thing… and leave talking about five others.

Come wander with us this week, Cape Coral.

What room in your house could use a little refresh right now?

Yesterday I had to make the decision. The decision that no pet owner ever wants to make but knows in their heart that it’s the last gift that you will ever give to them - the gift of dignity. As much as I would have done or paid any amount of money in this world to keep you alive, I know that the life you would have lived would not have been enough for you. It gutted my heart to see the spirit leave from your eyes and be replaced with the dull light of the dog you once were.

Haley, I am sorry humans failed you. Your owners packed their bags and went on vacation, dropped you at boarding and never came back for you. Who does that?? My friend. Mindi Abbotoy at Paws Crossed Inc picked you up from the boarding facility and called me. You were 14 years old, cataracts coming into both eyes, a bit hard of hearing, maybe incontinent maybe not, I told them to bring you to me, this is where you belong.

Come to find out you were never house broken, so we got you on a schedule and most of the time you were good. And if you weren’t, who cared. You fit right in with all the other dogs, for 14 months everything was great, then it wasn’t. You started to struggle, something was off. Off to see the vet only to find out you were in End Stage Renal failure. Just like that, in the blink of an eye you were so very sick.💔

I stroked your head and kissed you while you were falling asleep. With tear filled eyes I sat there as you were taken away, and now I look forward to the next time I see you. But it won’t be too soon, I still have more work to do.🌈

Until we meet again. May all your health and youthfulness be restored now.

I love you Hailey.

Do not mourn my passing for you could only see, by slipping all my earthly bonds.
I’m going again and free.
By day I run the heavenly fields my body healthy and strong, at night I sleep at Angels Feet lulled by Celestial Song.
So do not mourn my passing, just close your eyes, you’ll see I’m once again a proud dog.
Thank you for loving me.

Please keep our sweet girl Haley in your thoughts. ❤️🐾

She’s struggling a bit right now.

Haley saw Dr. Davis at Suburban Animal Hospital yesterday, and we’re hoping she’ll have some good days ahead. She’s over 15 years old and has been here at the sanctuary for more than a year.
Haley came to us after her previous owners went on vacation and never came back to pick her up from boarding. Somehow, that brought this sweet little girl into our lives, and she has been such a cutie ever since. ❤️

We’re not ready to say goodbye yet, and I’m hoping Haley has a little more time to spend here with us. Please keep our girl in your thoughts and send her lots of love and good vibes. 🙏🐾❤️

Please join me in welcoming **Shadow** to **Mr. Lucky Dog's Sanctuary**! 🐾❤️

Shadow has actually been with us since **July 9**. She came to us from a difficult situation in Naples, and before introducing her to everyone, we wanted to take the time to thoroughly evaluate her needs and ensure we could provide the best possible care.

We're happy to share that Shadow is now officially part of the Mr. Lucky Dog's Sanctuary family. We look forward to giving her the love, comfort, and security she deserves as she begins this new chapter of her life.

Since arriving, Shadow has undergone an extensive veterinary evaluation. She recently had a procedure on both of her eyes, including medication implants, and is now receiving multiple eye drops and oral medications to help with her healing and keep her comfortable. She has been such a trooper through it all, and we're hopeful these treatments will help preserve what little vision she has left (shapes and shadows) and improve her quality of life. She is also going through the slow kill method for Heartworms.

Many thanks to all who have helped along the way, Suburban animal Hospital, Dr. Davis, Dr. Edna May Seymour, wags and wishes Inc., Victoria Basiliere, Ava Pankow, Denise Cist and the board members of the sanctuary! It truly takes a village.❤️

Welcome home, Shadow! 🖤
