We care for on average 200 homeless animals daily between our facility, fosters and in-store cat habitats.

It's our favorite day over here at GOFAR! Not because it's a holiday weekend (because rescue doesn't get weekends off or holidays!) but because it's the day we get to show off our rescues and their new families!! 🏡🐶🐱This week, we have 11 adoptions to show off and tell you about their beginning stories. That's 9 dogs and 2 kitties getting a second chance on life!

💛 Meadow and Aspen - came in with littermate Juniper as very young pups from a local rural county shelter - all have homes now
💛 Nosey Rosey - little cutie surrendered to us to find a new loving, forever home
💛 Makila and PJ – arrived from a county shelter with Fabio, who is still looking for a home
💛 Netflix and Majestic - sweet Frenchies surrendered by owner who could not care for them
💛 Bentley - purchased from a pet store, then owner decided a puppy was not a good fit - so Bentley came to us and found the right fit
💛 Po - came in with littermate Dipsy as tiny babies from a local rural county shelter - both have homes now
💛 And our fabulous felines - Thackery and Jinx!

Meet Vernors! 🐾

This gorgeous cane corso mix has the most charming one‑up, one‑down ear look and a heart of gold.

At just 6 months old and 54 lbs, he’s an energetic, adventure‑loving boy who thrives with active humans. He’s been wonderful with other dogs and people, and with a little guidance, he’ll grow into the incredible companion he’s meant to be.

Vernors is looking for a family that sees his potential and wants a buddy for all the fun life has to offer. If you’re ready for loyalty, laughter, and a whole lot of puppy joy, this handsome guy is waiting.

As we close out August, we’re celebrating every act of kindness that helped change a life this month. Because of you, more animals found safety, healing, and love 💙

Meet Rex! He came to us in ruff shape with a broken hip, but thanks to teamwork between the county shelter and GOFAR, he received the surgery and care he needed to heal. Today, this 82‑lb American bulldog mix is strong, energetic, playful, and SO ready for an active forever family. He walks well on leash, loves other dogs with proper introductions, and his adoption fee is fully sponsored!

We have another very Lucky 13!!🍀🐾Must be something with 13 being lucky and not unlucky because 2 weeks ago we had the same number! 💚This time it's 9 dogs and 4 kitties getting a second chance on life! 🏡🐶🐱That’s 13 new beginnings and 13 families who gained a best friend and new family member. Help us keep the luck going by sharing, donating or adopting. Every animal deserves their own Gotcha Day!

💛 Julia - came to us from Lee County DAS missing most of her fur - after getting the medical care she needed, she’s a beauty inside and out now and happy in her new home
💛 Juniper and Dipsy - adorable pups came in with their respective littermates from the same local rural shelter - Juniper’s littermates Aspen and Meadow and Dipsy’s littermate Po still looking for homes.
💛 Bambi - little senior was abandoned to struggle to survive on her own - she is adorable and sweet and has a lovely home to live out her golden years in comfort
💛 Josephina – arrived from a local rural shelter in need of surgery to remove mammary tumors and heartworm positive - she fought thru complications from her surgery requiring another surgery and is continuing her heartworm treatment now in a cozy home
💛 Canela - also arriving from the same shelter as Josephina, she too is happy with her new family
💛 Dippin Dots - purebreed little doxie puppy surrendered by her owner to a local vet
💛 Paz - one of a litter of 5, Paz came in with 4 littermates and they all have homes now
💛 Finn - came in with his buddy Olli who were living as strays in a trailer park that was being demolished - Finn found his home at our adoption event last Saturday and Olli is still waiting patiently for her family
💛 And our fabulous felines - Wade, Teddy, Graycie and Kona!

🐾 Grover's Happy Ending 🐾

Grover was abandoned deep in the Everglades and rescued on 7/27/23, scared, alone, and unsure of what his future would hold. From that moment on, he became part of the GOFAR family… and for 561 days, he brought joy to our staff and volunteers with his goofy personality, playful antics, and gentle heart. He waited so patiently — never losing hope, never losing that spark that made everyone fall in love with him.

And then, in February 2025, his forever family found him.
Grover’s long wait was absolutely worth it.

Today, he’s living the life he always deserved — safe, loved, and cherished. Watching him thrive reminds us why we do this work, and why every single day in rescue matters.

Thank you to Grover’s family for seeing the magic in him. Thank you to our volunteers and supporters who loved him through his journey.
And thank you, Grover, for reminding us that the right home is always worth waiting for 💙

🥺PHOENIX UPDATE – HW POSITIVE, ANEMIC, PARASITES – YET SO SWEET 💔❤️‍🩹

Phoenix came to us from Labelle Animal Services 2 days ago – she has a long road ahead. Bloodwork is basically indicative of a dog that has been starved to near death – anemic plus she has all kinds of parasites, and no surprise here, she is heartworm positive. She has been bred and then cast aside with no one looking for her, no one caring about her. Until now. Literally this girl breaks our hearts with her little tail wag – like she knows that her life is going to change for the better and it certainly will. She already has a village rooting for her and she is going to get everything she needs to be ready for a future forever home. The focus right now is nutrition and weight gain. It is not recommended to treat her heartworm for at least a few months – she needs to get stronger and healthier first. She is going to be part of our pack for quite some time – welcome to the GOFAR family Phoenix. You are already loved - probably more than you have been your whole life!

It’s going to be a marathon and not a sprint for this girl, we are thankful for every dollar donated for Phoenix - no donation is too small and all are federally tax deductible. We appreciate all who have donated to date – we can’t do it alone and are blessed to have your support.

Today we’re celebrating four incredible pups who remind us why rescue work matters. Each of them has overcome challenges, healed with love, and is now ready for a forever family of their own 💙

✨ Olli
Olli was found in a Miami trailer park being demolished. She is about 2.5 years old, 33 lbs, and appears to be a puggle/terrier mix. She walks well on leash, loves yard time, enjoys toys, and has been friendly with other dogs. Her adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED!

✨ Mirabal
This sweet, energetic puppy came to the county shelter severely malnourished, which caused deformities in her front legs as she grew. Thanks to fast action and dedicated care, she’s now healthy, happy, and full of personality! Mirabal is playful, affectionate, and eager to please — she’ll thrive with training, structure, and a family who loves her big spirit. Her adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED thanks to The Drooling Dog Bakery!

✨ Winston
Winston was rescued from an overcrowded rural shelter. He is a 6‑month‑old sweetheart, weighing about 30 lbs, with a gentle puppy play style and a mystery mix that may include shepherd or black mouth cur. He’ll need help with potty and leash training, but he’s eager to learn and wants to be the best boy he can. His adoption fee is 1/2 off in August ($225)!

✨ Lucy
Lucy arrived at the county shelter with an injured leg and was immediately pulled into rescue. After orthopedic evaluation, surgery was not recommended due to the age of the injury — so her leg looks unique, but it doesn’t slow her down one bit! She’s a joyful, energetic 1.5‑year‑old shepherd mix who loves humans, loves dogs, and loves life. She just needs a family who sees her beauty exactly as she is. Her adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED!
