I would like to share a story with you to illustrate a point that is very important to us.
Once upon a time, a very good Scottie owner who not only had loads of experience, but also other of our Scots, found herself in a situation where one of the pups did not fit in with his sisters. They tried for a long time, but sometimes, because dogs have different personalities just like people, it just doesn't work out.
This family reached out and asked us to rehome him. I know what a hard decision that was for them, and it was sad for us too. Rather than saying he was a bad dog or blaming the breeder, or looking for an excuse, they just chose him. His needs. His happiness. They cared enough to want what was best for him and their other dogs.
This dog was rehomed to a different family from our page without other dogs to distract him from learning how he was supposed to behave. They took him to classes and celebrated who he was, rather than finding faults. I'm proud to say he is a puppy class graduate, has a kitty friend, and is so beautiful and loved.
When we say we don't shame people for rehoming, this is why. Sometimes a pup just doesn't work out where they are. Sometimes its because the environment isn't suitable. Sometimes it's their personality that clashes. Sometimes it's a lack of training or even incorrect training. Maybe they just didnt fit the expectations of that particular owner. Maybe the home situation changed or the owner's health caused an issue. That's all ok. Life happens. We want you to love them forever. We really do, but if a different situation is best, we can help. That's why its part of our contract to always take them back at any age, for any reason, if you need us to, and we're able. If we can't get to them, we can help you rehome here. There is too much negativity in the world to wish it on others, or to judge people when you don't know their situation. You might just be helping another family find their new best friend!
