3-Years-Old | 37 Pounds

Porky arrived at the shelter back in April as a stray.

The little one is sweet and affectionate, walks well on leash, and is housebroken. He is very treat motivated and knows “sit” so well! Porky has always been a bit nervous here in the shelter with all the noise surrounding him, but time out of the kennel is a relaxing and cuddly time for his handlers.

Just the other day, a citizen visiting the shelter saw Porky was highly agitated and reacting toward his neighbor. They reached toward him, and he bit their finger through his kennel door.

***Porky is currently being quarantined, and he must find placement with a transfer partner by the time he completes his quarantine on Saturday, 6/13.***

Meet Our Working Cats!

We are currently caring for 4 working cats who are struggling to adjust to the shelter and are feeling increasingly stressed in a confined setting. While they are all healthy, the shelter environment is taking a toll on their wellbeing, and we are concerned about the risk of mental decline if they remain here much longer. Because these cats are still not adjusting well to a shelter environment, we are seeking a transfer partner or a working cat adopter to get them out of the shelter to improve their quality of life and prevent mental and/or physical decline.

Right now, they need a second chance in a setting that allows them to be who they are with the choice to interact with people when and if they would like to. If you have a suitable space or know someone who does, please reach out. These cats may not ask for attention, but they absolutely need your help right now.

***All four of these cats must receive commitments and be picked up by end-of-day Tuesday, July 7!***

BROWARD ANIMAL CARE - FORT LAUDERDALE FL ‼️🍼 Mama Dog & ONE Newborn Seeking IMMEDIATE Placement 🍼‼️

Meet Bethany & Her Baby! + )
Mama: 4-Years-Old | 49 Pounds

Bethany (and one other female) were found at large and brought to us by PD earlier this month. Just last night, Bethany gave birth to one wiggly, little baby who appears healthy.

Bethany has been highly fearful and defensive since her arrival and needs someone with patience and experience with neonates to assist her in raising the little nugget. Unfortunately, Bethany has also been expressing symptoms of CIRD the past several days and may need further treatment.

This mama has a lot on her plate but is now juggling her own health as well as her baby’s. She needs the help of a trusted transfer partner to get her out of the shelter and into a safer environment fit for raising a newborn.

Meet Tiger! (A2476787) - 3 Years Old

Tiger arrived at the shelter on 5/27/26 as an owner surrender.

Sadly, due to personal health reasons, Tiger’s previous owner had to bring him to our shelter last month. Tiger lived with one adult and one teenager, loved playing with string/yarn toys and slept in his owner’s room.
Tiger’s previous owner was hoping that he could find a home that would be able to love Tiger the way he deserves but sadly, he has not had any interest.

Tiger has been pretty fearful and closed off since arriving - which is completely understandable for this young guy who has only ever known his home. Tiger is often seen cowering in the back of his cage and avoiding staff; however, he does allow some soft petting and interaction if approached slowly.

Tiger has been started on behavior medication to help him feel more relaxed, but what he really needs is a patient foster, adopter or transfer partner to get him out of the loud, scary shelter and into a more peaceful environment where he can learn his new home and family.

Will you be the one to help this young cat come out of his shell and receive the love and attention he deserves?

URGENT DRACO !!! Please help Draco - deadline 6/17 🙏

But we still need an adopter or foster for our Draco. He’s been at the shelter now for 6 months. Please foster or adopt

Meet Draco!
6-Years-Old | 62 Pounds

Draco came in way back in December after being abandoned 😔 He was nervous and afraid of the unknown of the shelter, but he’s come such a long way and has become a favorite among many.

After several successful outings on our Broward Buddies field trip program, Draco unfortunately did snap at a stranger’s hand when they reached toward his face while he was drinking, and he inflicted a minor bite while out at a farmers’ market. He is currently serving his bite quarantine here at the shelter.

Kennel staff, volunteers, and Broward Buddies fosters have all reported Draco to be a sweet, gentle, and easily handleable dog (if a bit strong on the leash at first). He knows “sit” and “paw” and is housetrained. His behavior with other dogs here has been hit-or-miss, but he has reportedly done well with other dogs and children when out of the shelter on outings.

***Draco’s quarantine ends 6/16. He must receive commitment and be picked up by a transfer partner by 5:00 P.M. on 6/17.***
