These sweet 8 orphan babies were abandoned in front of a vet clinic sometime overnight! 💔 Unfortunately without a plan they would have been euthanized today at 5pm. Although ARFF can’t save every dog we see that is in need…. if we can help, we will! 🐾
These little ones may have an unknown past but we will be there for them and are thankful we can help them get a second chance! We are so thankful to our amazing foster who say yes to keeping these babies safe and to our incredible rescue partner who will make sure they find great homes in Nebraska!❤️

Our sweet Rooster found his forever family in an unconventional way!! But we truly believe that some dogs just choose you! ❤️🐾🙏🏻 Happy tails Rooster! 🎉 Thank you so much Safe Paws Iowa!

❤️ This isn't a Safe Paws adoption story. But it's one worth telling, and we are thankful to have been a part of it.

🐶 We tagged a German Shepherd with just a few days to live before he was euthanized. We tagged him to be transferred to the German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Iowa. He was just going to be with us for a couple of days.
He arrived last Saturday, and while at his foster home, he escaped a kennel, a door, AND a fence. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Luckily he was close to the country in a small town and not close to heavy traffic where he could be hit. The whole town was searching for him and multiple people had him on camera. Our foster was frantic, in tears and scared for him but we all have responsibilities and jobs. We told her to go to work and we would pull together and find him, people were on their way!!

Shortly after she left, someone posted that he had been hanging out at their house!!! She quickly rushed to pick him up, told them he was a foster. She got him secured at home and rushed to work again. She mentioned the family he found wanted to adopt him, the whole family and kids were absolutely in love with him, we hear that OFTEN. "I'll foster, I'll adopt!" Very common comments and messages but very little follow through.

Well they were serious! They applied through us to adopt, we forwarded the application to the GSD rescue and they adopted him 😭 He is now back home with the family that he found all by himself!! 🏡

Our boys Bennett and Beckett who are fighting parvovirus got to spend a bit of time together today before being hooked back up to fluids and meds, they are still active and fighting hard! ❤️
They are so lovable and getting amazing care and cuddles! We are hoping they will both be eating on their own soon and continue to progress and recover! We still need to raise $515 to cover the remainder of their treatment costs so far! 🐾🙏🏻

Update- Princess Hope is finally more stable, she is very swollen and sore. She is getting some much needed rest and TLC. 🐾🫶 Thank you for all of your prayers for her. We are hoping there will not be any complications as she continues to heal! 🩷

Update-Princess Hope has not been stable enough to today for the veterinarian to sedate her for stitches. For now she is on fluids, pain meds and antibiotics. We are hopeful that tomorrow she will be able to get cleaned up and stitches. For now she is spending another night hospitalized and we are praying she will start eating and drinking willingly. 🩷🐾 Please keep her in your thoughts. We are thankful to everyone who has helped us raise to cover her vetting. We will post an update tomorrow on what is still needed for her. 🐾🙏🏻

Meet Princess Hope, she was surrendered today after being attacked by stray dogs. 😭
She is currently hospitalized at one of our vets in Lubbock and we are praying she will do well throughout the night! She was still in shock when she was being evaluated but she still was so sweet. 🩷
Our estimate for her is $470-$650, we know she will need to be cleaned up and will need several stitches. They have her on fluids, pain meds, and antibiotics already. Still will be staying at the vet overnight. 🐾 Every dollar helps! Please help us-help her!

Rescue never ends and although the highs always outweigh the lows. The lows are heartbreaking! 🐾🙏🏻 This is BENNETT. Sweet little Bennett and his brother Beckett are in a loving foster home and were waiting for transport, but now they need our help. This morning little Bennett was not feeling very well, unfortunately he has tested positive for parvovirus. 💔

We immediately hospitalized him today and we need help covering his medical bill! We need to raise $700 to save this baby! We are praying his brother will not become symptomatic, for now he is feeling okay. 🐾😭

Sweet Clarissa was diagnosed with Ehrlichia which is a preventable tick-borne bacterial disease, her surgery has been delayed for a week while we get her platelet count up — but we still need to raise $400 to cover her surgery. We are still trying to save this last kitten of his litter! 🐾💔 His eye got infected very quickly yesterday and ruptured last night. He was rushed to the vet this morning and unfortunately the eye could not be repaired. We need $191 to cover his vet bills for today. He received two oral antibiotics and an antibiotic ointment for his eye. He is too small for surgery and less than 3 weeks old, so we hope to keep him healthy and once he is big and strong he will have his eye area surgically cleaned and closed. 🐾 He is eating and drinking well, he is strong and a fighter! We will not give up on him!

Any amount helps- we have not been able to catch a break between medical cases… but if we don’t help them- then who will? 😔

Update- Unfortunately 2 more of the kittens have passed away. We are praying the final kitten survives.💔
Our vet bills are up to $511.87. We need your help to cover these medical bills. 🐾

Unfortunately these sweet babies are sick and currently at Live Oak Animal Hospital. 🐾🙏🏻💔 Please send good vibes that not all of them have FPV (Feline panleukopenia virus). We have already had to decide to let the smallest girl go. The other 3 babies are being tested. 😭💔

Meet Miss Clarissa- she is the sweet and beautiful momma dog who was saved with her litter over a week ago. It seems her leg suffered an injury months ago which made her lose her foot/paw. Unfortunately she never received medical attention with a veterinarian and she has a mild infection in her joint/leg.
Clarissa has seen our vet and they recommend a full amputation of her leg to avoid any further infections or issues with her trying to use the leg in which she could have additional wounds that would lead to future infections etc. We have her scheduled for surgery next Monday but we need to raise the funds to help her. 🐾🙏🏻🩷

The estimate for total vet care is $700-1000. We are hoping to give her a beautiful life in Colorado but we need to get her healthy and healed first! 🐾🩷
