While walking through the woods, I stumbled upon a heartbreaking sight—two tiny kittens, huddled tightly together in the crook of a tree. Someone had left them there, alone, with just a small pile of food and a bowl of water. As if that was enough to survive the wild. The orange one looked up at me with tired eyes, while the tabby stayed protectively close, both trembling in fear and cold.
It broke my heart.
I scooped them up gently, wrapping them in my jacket. They were dirty, hungry, and confused—but finally safe. I brought them home and got them to the vet right away. Thankfully, despite the rough conditions, they were mostly healthy—just dehydrated and underweight.
They're now in quarantine, getting warm baths, proper food, and most importantly, love. I’ve named them Maple and Rusty. Every day, they’re growing stronger, purring louder, and trusting more. Their tiny tails flick happily now when I enter the room, and they curl up together in their new soft bed.
Whoever left them thought a bowl of water was enough. But these babies needed a family.
