From GA to NJ this guy I remember well because I have a thing for black fluffy's. This is a wonderful update from Jamie and also bitter sweet as Rolo is no longer here.

"12 years ago, we adopted Brinley (fka, Rolo) One week later we took him camping with us. This past November we had to say goodbye to our boy but he was able to get one last camping trip a couple weeks before he crossed the rainbow bridge. He was the absolute best dog and his passing broke many hearts. He lead a full happy life with multiple camping trips a year, fishing with dad, daily walks, and spending weekends at the lake. We are so grateful to your rescue for saving him in Georgia. If it weren’t for you, we would’ve never met our fluffy boy. Here is a picture the day of his adoption and on his last camping trip. "

In his honor Jamie is helping me feed a new stray cat that just showed up in my garage and will need vetting and food until we can find a home for him.

Life is better with dogs. Forever in our hearts. Thank you Jamie.

This handsome cat is about 2 years old. He was born in a barn and has been living indoors for almost 2 years. He has been fully vetted but is not super friendly so he gets rejected from adopters after they meet him. So we made a decision maybe a barn home would be best for him. He really wants out and we want safety. Is there a horse barn looking for a good mouser who will rub against you. He is good with other cats and dogs. Hunterdon or Warren County would be ideal. Or is there a caregiver would would live a sweet, playful, fun feline who is a bit aloof in the house. Please message us. Thank you.

UPDATE: This little guy is going to get to live out his dreams on a farm. We are waiting a bit for it to warm up and he will head off to his new life. So happy for him.

Today a beautiful, yet sad letter arrived in the mail. It reminded me of the days when I would pull cats from Gaston Animal Shelter in NC. This shelter was so special they put cats in the dogs runs, there was not a dedicated cat room. When the kennel runs were sprayed for cleaning the cats got sprayed as well. If you have ever visited a shelter the dogs kennels are very loud and stressful. If the cats survived this, and many did not, after the appropriate hold time, they were put into a gas chamber.

It disturbed me so much I got on a Pet Finder forum. I sat on the sidelines and after about 6 months and of watching and waiting for someone to help them. When no help arrived and the level of horror got to me, I spoke up and asked how I could help. Very few cared about the cats, many of the dogs could get out, thank goodness.
Welcome To NJ Shelby. Did I remember her? Yes I did because we named her Francie, our one and only. I am so happy they reached out to me and again am reminded that even in the difficult times in rescue, these letters confirm why you do it.

A Happy update from an adopter who used to live in NJ and now is in Florida!

These 3 siblings are celebrating their 12th birthday and she wanted to let me know!

We adopted Charlie (was Joey) back in 2014. He came up from Gaston NC(?) as a puppy along with several of his litter. He’s now living in the UK and doing great! He has arthritis, but has a monthly pain relief injection to keep him mobile. We love him to pieces and he travels with us everywhere! Hope you’re all doing well x

Gaston was such a disgusting place so many dogs and cats got sick just entering the building and passed away. We did our best. Fosters saved so many lives and look at this big handsome dog with an amazing life. .

Trixie is camera shy. She is about 7 months old and is spayed, vaccinated, tested(negative) and ready for a new home. She is a bit shy but will come around once she gains your trust. She is good with other cats and ok around dogs. Super playful, cat.

Lilly is a petite, fun 6 month old kitten looking for a great home. She is spayed, tested(negative) and current on all her vaccines. This fun loving girl is super playful, good with other cats and has even been around a Senior Dog and they enjoy each others company.

Smudge, an awesome teenage cat, seeks a great home. Super playful, great with other cats, and comfortable around older dogs. Already neutered, vaccinated, and tested negative for Felv/Fiv. Ideal home would have older children or adults. Smudge enjoys being near you and will jump on your lap for attention, but prefers it to be on his own terms.
