As a pet business, we support and help the Humane Society in many ways. It's not an easy industry and in my experience, after many years in this field, our rescue is hands down the best we could ever ask for 💕 Please be patient, kind and respectful.
Message from our Executive Director, Chris Cannon:
I want to thank the community for caring so much about animals in need. We here at HSOTC love animals in general and try to help every single one that comes to us. We also try to facilitate reuniting animals with their owners without their pets even coming to us. There are times when we are involved in helping animals across MN and ND. The issues animal shelters see doesn't always stop at their service area boundaries (Otter Tail County in our case). Please be aware that due to privacy concerns we may not always be able to share the whole story with those of you who contact us. We understand that you kind hearted people want to see a quick resolution/homecoming for these animals but sometimes we are waiting for pet owners to reclaim their animals before we even have space for strays and they aren't always picked up in a timely fashion. As some of you may know, we are in a temporary facility while ours is renovated. We went from 24 dog kennels to 8 so please understand sometimes we have several plates spinning at once before things can fall into place. Also please understand we are a local charity with 8 employees and not a government entity so please know that a little kindness can really lift someone up especially on days in which we see so much sadness. We would LOVE to help everyone but when we field 6 calls a day on average from people asking us to take their pet or intake a stray, it just isn't possible. We take that fact home with us each and every night.
Thank you for your time and consideration. If anyone would like to speak with me regarding anything mentioned here, please call me at 218-739-3494
