We are gearing up for our first agility trial since 2022, three years! The last time I stepped into the ring, I was running with Cersei, Hops’s mom, my foundation bitch. Now I get the joy (and nerves!) of making my agility return with Hops, my first bred by to debut in ASCA agility.
We are so excited, and yes, I’m also quite anxious. This post is really just to ask for all the good vibes and positive thoughts you can send our way!
Hops will have 18 runs over three days, 6 a day:
2 Regular, 2 Jumpers, 2 Gamblers
If it seems like too much, we’ll cut back on her runs and “eat” those entry fees. We will be indoors at the beautiful Purina Farms, which is such a great venue.
The trial is an ASCA event, hosted by GASC (Gateway Australian Shepherd Club) which I’m proud to be a member of. Our ASCA trials are always so nice with agility, obedience, rally, and conformation all in one building & dock jumping just down the hill!
Hops & I have been training for over a year, and we still have some work to do, especially on our A frame contact (please, Hops, no launching from the top 🙏🏼), but my biggest hope is that we stay connected, have fun, and that I can be the partner she needs in the ring.
Goals? Maybe bring home some novice Qs, maybe even titles, open jumper Qs would be a huge bonus. But honestly, just getting out there with Hops will be a huge win, she’s a fun girl.
If you see me at the trial, I might be running between arguably too much agility and my trial chair duties for dock jumping, but mostly I’ll be focused on agility. I’m going to do my best to remember to set up my phone for videos so we can share the fun (and hopefully the successes) with you all.
So here we go. Three years later. New partner. New chapter. Same love for the game. 🫶🏼
Wish us luck! 🍀
