This is a story of Molly mule! The week of Sept 16th we received notice of a molly mule who was being auctioned at a pre-sale on her way to New Holland where the kill buyers pick up unwanted equines. She had spent most of her life with the Amish working in the field and has scars on her back and shoulders evidence of wearing harness and working in the field. With help of donations from others, we bailed her from the pre-sale. Molly went to a nearby quarantine facility because she was too weak to make the trip to her new home. After one week in quarantine Molly was a little stronger and made the 3 hour trip home. She slept most of the next day. She was so pitiful with her sad, hollow eyes and bony body covered with wounds. Molly is emaciated, has pressure wounds (bedsores), inflammation in her joints, spine and sacrum conflict, needs dental care and hoof sore. She is now being fed 4 times a day, has received antibiotic and her wounds are being treated. Molly has already picked up weight and her pressure sores are smaller-some have healedPlease help us with your donations to rehabilitate Molly and give her a comfortable remaining life. Mules can live to 40+ years; she is approximately 22 years old and should retire with dignity. Thank you for being a part of Molly's life.
