Are microchips important?? You betcha!! ProjectARF helped with a BEAUTIFUL reunion thanks to microchips 🥰 After two years of searching and never giving up hope, we were able to help reunite a young lady with autism and her emotional support cat, just in time for her birthday 🎂 🎉 The family suffered a fire in their home two years ago. Shortly after the fire, their cat found her way outside (a second much loved cat did not make it 😞). The family searched far and wide, posting on social media sites, and spending countless hours passing out “missing cat” flyers until the weather grew too cold. They received help from multiple agencies, documenting tips until there was enough evidence of the location of the cat. A neighbor had rehomed their cat 😳. With the assistance of a Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Deputy, we were able to make arrangements for the cat to be scanned for a microchip to prove ownership. The new owners were shocked to find they, too, had been lied to. They had loved and spoiled the cat for the two years that she was missing. Heartbroken, but so understanding, they agreed the cat should be with the young lady who missed her companion kitty tremendously. It was a bittersweet ending for all parties involved. Project ARF is working to find the perfect cat to make a home with those wonderful folks that showed great kindness in giving up the cat they had come to love as their own. The original family wants to extend their sincere gratitude for all the assistance during their investigation, and to the other family for taking such great care of their beloved companion. Thanks to VCSO, Paw Street, Inc, PetSmart, EACC, & volunteers that helped make this precious reunion a reality. The tail wagging . . . our cup truly runneth over 💕

It has come to my attention, that a few very misleading facts have been presented to the public about Animal Resource Foundation-Project ARF and our programs and policies when dealing with the rescue and rehoming of cats and kittens.
Since the establishment of Project ARF it has been our mission to “help animals in need and lower the euthanasia rate in the Evansville area”. I’m excited, honored, and privileged to work with many individuals to do what we can to achieve this goal. By doing so I’m sure some will not agree with how we do certain things, but I can assure you our commitment to what is best for the animal always comes first.

Let me clarify a few things that have been said about us.

Do we adopt our kittens before being fixed?
Yes, we do through a program we call ‘foster to adopt”. The kitten is transferred to that person to be a foster only until it is fully vetted with all shots and is spayed/neutered. Then the kitten becomes “adopted”.
This program accomplishes several things. First, it saves the life of another kitten by freeing up space so our foster/volunteers can pull another at risk animal into foster care. Second, we do not, for the safety of the kitten, spay or neuter them until at least 3 pounds and older than eight weeks of age. I’d like to emphasize that no cat under eight weeks and 3 pounds is adopted out to anyone by project ARF.

With full disclosure in mind, I will admit we did have one cat through an error in paperwork in the system did get pregnant and have kittens without our knowledge. With the large number that we’ve run through our system, having one mistake is pretty satisfying when considering how many lives we have saved. The system has been adapted, so it will not happen again.

The other thing being said is that we are taking cats that are pregnant and let them have kittens because we don’t believe in spay abort. This is entirely untrue and we have the records to prove it. We have had one that we did not do spay abort and it was because of the condition of the mom and putting her through that would put her life in danger. Again, we do what is best for the animals.
I encourage anyone out there that has any questions, comments, or would like more information about anything we do or how we do it to please let us know. We are an extremely open book organization and would encourage anyone to become involved.

💕💕 Freya & Finley 💕💕
These ADORABLE kitties are available through our foster to adopt program. Because of a wonderful supporter of Project ARF, the adoption fee for these cutie pies is just $75 for the pair. That fee includes having them spay/neutered, microchipped, and all shots including rabies vax. Look at them already practicing their poses for family photos. Simply IRRESISTIBLE 😍
