Some days I feel like I'm barely keeping it together. Juggling the vet bills, the chewed shoes, the constant messes, and the way your little quirks both frustrate and completely consume my brain. I sigh. I complain. I wonder how something so small can cost so much, destroy so much, and demand so much. And yet the second you nuzzle into my lap or curl up against my chest, all that chaos melts into something I can't name. Something that feels like the truest kind of love.
No one else could understand. The sleepless nights pacing the floor when you were sick. The tears over lost socks that you somehow find and destroy. The way I plan my whole day around making sure you're okay your walk, your meal, your meds, your comfort. People on the outside see the mess. They see the expense. They see the inconvenience. But they don't see this. This moment. Your head on my chest. Your slow, steady breathing. The way you sigh like the whole world is finally right because you're in my arms.
Somehow, despite all the madness the frustration, the exhaustion, the constant cleaning I wouldn't trade this messy, beautiful, exhausting life with you for anything in the world. Not for more money. Not for more free time. Not for a house that stays clean. Because a clean house never curled up on my chest and reminded me what love feels like.
