To those that knew Dave. That top hat wearing, lawn mower riding with a trailer former resident of The Cove. We found out today he passed away last November. He and his wife Tracy first came here 5 years ago. And through the years, he and Tracy became friends and care givers to my mother in law. After she passed, they stayed on and last July, they moved onto a new home his son had set them up with. He passed just a few months after leaving.

Dave, Tracy, We just found out today. But know, you guys were a big part of The Cove for years. And Dave will be surely missed. Tracy, God bless. Dave is now enjoying eternity with his favorite rock bands in heaven. Rock on Dave, you will be missed.

This is honestly the best goodbye and farewell I have ever written.

Almost two years ago, an elderly lady kept riding through our park asking did we have anything for rent. At that time no. But she was persistent. I did have a camper. But someone was in it. We kept her number, and when it became vacant called her. She told us she had been renting a space in a barn. Seriously, and had no indoor toilet. I told her, you can stay in the camper, but just pay lot rent. No idea if she were serious, she was. Me thinking it was just a pity story turned out to be true. I never expected her to pay the rent, just write it off my wife said. But she paid consistently, no dunning her

Now, she is moving into a relatives home and soon will hopefully move to Geneva where she wants to spend her final days. Mrs. H, thank you for choosing us to help. We wish you godspeed and peace in your new home. John and Yvonee.

Huge shout out to the Holmes County Sheriff's office. Yesterday, after freezing cold about 7:30 am, one of our guests came a knocking. She had locked her keys in her motorhome, and it was freezing. She didn't have money to pay a locksmith. She was crying and worried. I said come in, get warm and called the Sheriff's office. The dispatcher was understanding and within minutes a deputy was on site. Needless to say, her and her pets had a joyful reunion.

Thank you to the dispatcher and deputy who answered the call. Holmes County Sheriff's office is the bestest!

Each Christmas, I repost this true story of my youth.

The Christmas Miracle.

When I was very young, my father had just retired from the military and bought a farm. His retirement was about $150 a month. And we were struggling with a new life.

We had chickens, cows and a horse. Plus land for crops. Though we were strapped financially, we had food. A blessing.

Because it was hard times, Santa wasn't high up on the list for Christmas. But there was one thing that was, the "Christmas Miracle."

The "Christmas Miracle" was a special moment, at a specific time. As I was told, at the moment Christ was born in Bethlehem, the only witnesses to the event were the livestock. Sheep's, cows and a donkey. Because God was pleased with them, he granted all a gift. At midnight, on Christmas eve, all animals would be gifted with human speech. They could talk with humans and share the miracle they witnessed.

As a young boy, instead of staying awake for a visit from Santa, I laid in bed awaiting the miracle. I dreamt of hearing what my dog and cows had to say to me at midnight. Maybe Queenie, my shepherd would finally say how much she loved me. But alas, the sandman would visit me long before the miracle hour, and I would drift asleep.

To this day I await the Christmas Miracle.

A few weeks ago a nice gentleman named Bob called and inquired about staying a few days. He was waiting for his friend to prepare a spot for him on his own property. I told Bob we don't do nightly rental, but if he donated to Wounded Warriors Project, he could stay for a few days. We offer this to first responders, vets and active duty military. Bob said he was a retired firefighter.

Bob called today, said our offer was gracious, but his friend had his spot ready and he wouldn't be needing to stay. However, he donated $150 to Wounded Warriors anyway.

Patriots come in many forms, Bob, sir you are surely a patriot, and thank you for your service as a first responder!
