Rooted in ranch life and guided by a lifelong devotion to the horse, Lee Smith brings a depth of wisdom, feel, and clarity to horsemanship that can only come from decades in the saddle.
Living on a cattle ranch in Estancia, New Mexico, Lee and her husband Mark raise quality Quarter Horses at Harmony Hills Ranch. Since 1991, Lee has conducted hundreds of clinics and demonstrations across the U.S., Canada, and Australia, reaching thousands of horse people along the way. Yet she considers herself, first and foremost, a student of the horse — grateful for every lesson they offer.
Lee is known as a gifted and eloquent teacher with extraordinary insight into both horses and people. Her approach centers on helping riders learn from the horse, guiding them down a pathway of discovery that reveals the essential elements of true horsemanship. Through her teaching, students unlock a deeper understanding of the mind, body, and spirit of the horse, leading to better communication, confidence, and performance.
We are honored to welcome Lee Smith as a 2026 Horsemanship Master with Art of the Cowgirl, where her quiet wisdom and thoughtful guidance will continue to shape horsemen and women for years to come.
