We do a great deal of breeding to reproduce traits of ability in our litters.
interestingly, there are behavioral traits that are also passed on to the pups
By behavioral traits I mean traits of personality
Case in point would be my Brawler dog.
When in his kennel he likes to “ spin “ in a circle when I go out to the kennels.
He only does this when i’m out there and he wants my attention. He has never done it unless I was out there and he has never done it outside the kennel.
Ive shared videos of this and had countless facebook experts tell me a number of medical conditions responsible for this. All of them are laughable.
This is a personality trait that is often passed on to offspring it’s totally harmless, and nothing to worry about .
There are behavioral traits that are something to worry about shyness would be one
another would be biting humans
a list goes on and on, but these traits can be reproduced in the offspring of the parents
if the parents exhibit these negative traits they’re likely not good candidates for breeding
The only thing you have to remember when line breeding is “ like begets like”
YOU have to develop the ability to make honest assessments of your potential breeding stock
This is difficult for most people
Think its easy?
describe one thing below which you wish your terrier did better
😀see what I mean?😀
