She’s home! tuesday night after surgery pib managed to kick her split off so they had to redo part of the surgery again wednesday. the second surgery unfortunately didn’t go as well as the first but they said it was still a success! they had to keep her until friday to make sure she was as comfortable as possible and she got put in a shirt to hopefully prevent her from doing anymore damage.
The staff told us she was one of their favorite pets and the surgeon was carrying her around in her jacket bragging about her all week. She got so much love while she was there and we couldn’t be more grateful for the love and care they had for our girl. She has a long road to recovery but the important thing is that she has a chance to have a long and healthy life❤️

We just got a call from the vet! Surgery went better than expected! They said a normal index score is 12-20 and Pibs chest was at 5 prior to surgery, she is now at 11.5! The vet said the surgery was pretty remarkable and that they had to get creative with the chest splint. She is still waking up from anesthesia and they will be keeping her overnight. We are waiting on a call tomorrow morning to find out if we can bring her home tomorrow! Thank you again to everyone who donated and shared we will give another update tomorrow. 🐱 We are so glad our girl is okay!😭❤️

We wanted to post a little update for you guys! We finally had our consultation this morning. We did x-rays bloodwork all sorts of things to prepare for pibs surgery! The Vet said this condition is so rare and that pibs is quite severe. We are really hoping that the surgery goes smoothly without complication and that it will benefit her so that she lives a very long, happy healthy life! There’s really no telling how things will go and how much it’s going to benefit her, but we are very hopeful that this is her best chance at the best life she can get! Hi, I’m Pib, a 12-week-old orange tabby with a heart full of love—and a chest that’s making it hard to breathe.
I was born with a condition called pectus excavatum, a birth defect that causes my chest to be sunken in, pushing against my heart and lungs. It’s getting harder for me to breathe and grow, and without surgery, I may not get the chance to become the playful, snuggly cat I’m meant to be.
Despite everything, I’m full of life. I chase toys, purr louder than you’d expect from such a little body, and snuggle like a pro. I want to live. I just need a little help to get there.
