Get to Know the Heart Behind Barker Pet Services & Training 🐾

Hi, I’m Schanece Edds—owner of Barker Pet Services and Training, proudly serving Ennis, Waxahachie, and the surrounding communities. With a passion for animals that started long before my professional career, I’ve been working in the animal care field since 2008. Today, I’m a full-time ER veterinary technician at a specialty hospital—and now, I’m excited to grow my personal business to help more pets and their people locally.

At Barker Pet Services, I offer dog grooming, pet sitting, obedience training, and behavioral rehabilitation, all designed to meet your dog’s individual needs in a calm, home-based environment.

🛁 Grooming with a Purpose

I’ve been grooming dogs since 2009, with a special focus on those with health concerns, challenging coats, or behavioral issues that other groomers may turn away. Because I work from home, your pet avoids the stress of a busy salon or kennel. I only book one to two grooms at a time, so each dog receives calm, focused care in a relaxed setting.

🏡 Home-Style Boarding

When your dog stays with me, they enjoy the comforts of a home—whether it’s lounging on the couch or playing with other dogs. For pets that prefer solo time, I provide personalized attention and quiet space. With my medical background, I’m also able to administer medications and treatments if needed, so you can rest easy knowing your pet is in capable, compassionate hands.

🐕‍🦺 Behavioral Training That Works

Since 2009, I’ve been helping dogs—and their humans—overcome fear and aggression with custom training programs. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we’ll start with a free consultation and meet & greet, where we talk about your dog’s history, challenges, and goals. Then we build a plan that fits your dog’s personality and your lifestyle.

🐶 Fun Fact

At one point, I had a pack of seven German Shepherds, each with a unique temperament, all of whom helped me rehabilitate dogs with behavioral challenges. They were my partners in progress and played a key role in transforming lives—both canine and human.

Whether your pet needs a gentle groomer, a safe place to stay, or help navigating behavioral struggles, I’m here to support you both with knowledge, patience, and a lot of heart. 💙

Going on a weekend trip? Summer vacation? We can help!
We offer drop in services at your home or in-house boarding with us.
Drop in services are approximately 30 minutes long so we can feed, water, let them out to potty, and spend time with them!
When staying with us, your dog is kept in-home, gets plenty of time to play and socialize, without the stress of a being in a kennel all of the time!

Precious got a fresh cut and looks like an entirely different dog! She also suffers from skin allergies, so she enjoyed a tea tree shampoo bath to help soothe her skin and extra exfoliation to get the dead skin off. Ask about our tea tree baths for your pups with allergies!
