Many people want to know if their pet collar is one of the 140 recovered in Helene debris. Thousands of collars once
adorned the Lake Lure Rainbow Bridge before Helene destroyed the memorial. This is the response from the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge volunteer who is in
possession of the collars:

โ€œโ€ฆI have cleaned them all and am storing them until they all can be placed on the new Rainbow Bridge. I am going to take on the task of photographing them all, and writing a description of any information I can find on the collars/tags. It may take a few days, but I will get this out on Facebook and our Lake Lure Flowering Bridge website. Please don't request that we send you the collar if it is among the ones found. We simply do not have the volunteers or funds to do that, so we are asking that you don't request it. These collars belong together, as they were on the original Rainbow Bridgeโ€ฆโ€

More pet collars that once adorned the Rainbow Bridge in Lake Lure were found today!!!

Contractors working to restore the Lake Lure boat marina made the discovery.

The find comes just days before the one year mark since Hurricane Helene caused widespread damage including the destruction of the beloved Rainbow Bridge.

The timing is so symbolic of the hope, strength and love that no storm could ever take away. The collars will be hung on the replacement bridge thatโ€™s set to be built in the spring.

For those who are unaware, the Rainbow Bridge is a metaphor. Pets who have died cross the rainbow bridge to get to Heaven. Pet owners placed the collars on the bridge as a remembrance. Finding the collars is symbolic of the reconnection with their owners and a reminder of the forever love of their fur baby. The collars are treasured mementos.
