Day 7 with SWSCL tag #377 update!
I know many people will be too lazy to watch a 7 minute video, but will still leave unwarranted comments, so:
VET COMES IN TWO DAYS. They need to see her and do an exam before they'll give me antibiotics so I needed to get her handled before then.
Believe it or not, I have experience and think about EVERYTHING, so no need to comment your two-cents ✌️
I strive to build thought processes, confidence, connection, and emotional strength in every horse I work with ❀️

Tag 377 from the Southern Wi Second Chance lot, day three of sitting with her, the gnats were out today and she came up to me for scratches 😁❀️
I've been making a list of names all week and I'm leaning towards "Moonshine." I also really liked "Tangueray" (as in the Gin). With that, it would be so cute to name her future possible baby "Ginny" ☺️
Follow along to see her progress!

It makes me happy seeing her release her tension and get comfortable 😊

I should probably post my updates on here!
So I bought an unhandled, bred, registered quarter horse mare from the Southern Wi Second Chance lot. Just based on a video of her moving around loose, I liked her build, movement, and kind eye.

Day one she was following me around, curious and maybe looking for comfort and companionship.

Day three, I started actually working with her, moving her feet a bit, "owning my space," and moving my stick & string up and around to desensitize her to stuff around her/pressure in her bubble.
Then she walked up to me and let me scratch her with my stick. And then with my hands. Day one, she flinched when I tried to touch her. Now shes pushing into me wanting scratches and relief from the bugs!
And I took the opportunity to put a halter on her, and she didn't panic. Took three approaches to get it latched, letting her move away if she felt unsure. (It is tied with a small piece of leather so itll break if she gets it caught & pulls).
Make sure to follow our journey!

Picking up the right lead was a bit of a struggle at first, but Cash is quickly learning! You can see how smoothly and relaxed he lopes off.
(The rear cinch wasn't loose when we first tacked up! They should always be snug!)

Cash tacking up, moving hindquarters and shoulders, following the feel of the lead rope.

*this video is mirrored for some reason. When I say he is stiff to the left, it IS his left πŸ˜…

I know I don't post enough as I am by myself most of the time but I will try to capture what I can! Here is Cash and a few of the things we've been doing on the ground lately.

For riding, he has settled into a relaxed, loose-reined trot and learning to carry himself in the lope, as well as picking up his right lead better.
