This handsome mixed-breed boy was picked up as a stray in Salton City last Friday alongside a Maltese companion. While we don’t know how he ended up on his own, what we do know is that he’s an incredibly friendly dog who deserves a loving home.

At approximately 1 year old, he has the perfect combination of youthful energy and a sweet, easygoing personality. He loves people, enjoys attention, and has quickly shown everyone at the shelter what a wonderful companion he can be.

Now he’s waiting patiently at Imperial County Animal Control, hoping his next chapter includes a family who will never let him down.

This handsome German Shepherd mix is only about a year old—a young dog with his whole life ahead of him. Yet instead of spending his days playing, exploring, and learning what it means to be part of a family, he now finds himself at Imperial County Animal Control after being relinquished on June 12.

Despite everything, this sweet boy hasn’t lost his joyful spirit. He is playful, affectionate, and eager to interact with the people around him. He still gets excited for attention, still wants to play, and still believes that someone out there will come for him.

It’s heartbreaking to think that such a young dog could spend his days behind kennel walls. He deserves so much more than that. He deserves walks, toys scattered across the yard, adventures with his family, and a warm place to sleep at night.

💔 A Mother Doing Everything She Can

Meet Perra, a Chihuahua mix who was relinquished by her owner on June 5 from desert shores (same owner as previous post) and brought to Imperial County Animal Control alongside her tiny male puppy.

Of all the heartbreaking stories that pass through shelter doors, there’s something especially difficult about watching a mother try to protect her baby after losing the only home they’ve known.

Perra takes her job as a mom very seriously. She keeps a watchful eye on her puppy, stays close to him at all times, and isn’t afraid to let the world know that her baby comes first. While she may appear territorial, it’s clear that everything she does comes from a place of love and protection. She is devoted to her puppy and determined to keep him safe, even in an unfamiliar shelter environment.

It’s impossible not to feel for this little family. Through no fault of their own, they suddenly found themselves without a home, trying to navigate a confusing and stressful new reality together.

We would love to see this mama and her puppy find the safety, comfort, and love they deserve. Whether together or through a rescue willing to help them, they need a chance at a brighter future.

This adorable Chihuahua mix was relinquished by her owner on June 5 and brought to Imperial County Animal Control from Desert Shores, California, along with her sister from the previous post.

Through no fault of her own, this little girl suddenly found herself in a shelter environment, surrounded by unfamiliar sights, sounds, and routines. It’s a lot for any dog to process, especially one who recently had a home of her own.

Despite the changes in her life, she remains a sweet and gentle soul. All she wants is a soft place to rest, a kind hand to reassure her, and a family who will love her through life’s ups and downs.

💔 The Last of Nine, and the One We’re Most Worried About

This sweet Lab mix girl is the ninth sibling from a group of nine dogs who recently arrived at Imperial County Animal Control from Brawley. While all of them deserve loving homes, this young girl has captured our hearts for a different reason.

At approximately 1 year old, she should be enjoying life, playing with her siblings, and exploring the world around her. Instead, she spends much of her time lying quietly in her kennel. She appears lethargic and has a noticeably enlarged abdomen, leading staff and volunteers to believe she may be pregnant, though this has not been confirmed.

Despite everything, she remains incredibly sweet and gentle. She accepts affection with quiet gratitude and seems to find comfort in the simple kindness of a gentle touch.

It’s hard not to wonder what she’s been through. Shelter life is difficult enough for a young dog, but for one who may be carrying puppies, it’s especially heartbreaking.

She deserves a safe place to rest, proper care, and a family who will show her that she matters. Most of all, she deserves hope.
