It’s always great to watch our Aspiring Therapy Dog teams work through new skills together!

Last night, we continued practicing how to guide their dogs through different situations while staying calm, focused, and comfortable. Therapy work involves more than good obedience. Handlers also need to recognize their dog’s body language and know when to offer guidance, give them space, or take a break.

We love seeing these teams build confidence in themselves and each other as they learn!

Let’s welcome Finn to Puppy Day Training!

Finn is one of our newest students, and we are so excited to have this sweet boy joining us for school!

Over the next three weeks, Finn will be busy learning all the things puppies need to know. We’ll be working on his manners, basic obedience, leash skills, crate training, potty routines, and of course, learning how to relax!

We love watching these little guys learn and grow during their time with us. It’s amazing how much they can accomplish in just three weeks!

Our Board and Train Program is BACK!

Now that we are all settled into our new training center, we are excited to announce that we are officially accepting dogs into our Board and Train Program again!

We have TWO openings available for immediate enrollment!

With the holidays right around the corner, now is a great time to work on those training goals before the busy season begins!

Our three week Board and Train Program focuses on building a solid foundation of obedience, improving everyday manners, leash skills, recall, and teaching dogs how to settle and relax in different environments.

Whether you’re struggling with pulling on the leash, jumping on guests, or simply want a more enjoyable relationship with your dog, we’re here to help!

Our goal isn’t just to train your dog while they’re with us. We want to make sure you have the knowledge and tools to continue that success at home.

Sometimes the most important part of a training session isn’t what you planned to teach.

Piper is in her fourth session of introducing the E collar into her recall training, and things were going great until something unexpected happened.

Piper has a tendency to be nervous about new things, and during this session, something as simple as my treat pouch suddenly made her uncomfortable.

Here’s where understanding the dog in front of you and knowing your training goals becomes so important.

Piper is here to work on her recall. Her mom is already working with her on building confidence around things that make her nervous. If Piper were here specifically to work through those nervous tendencies, I might have approached this situation very differently.

But today, our goal was recall.

Rather than turning the session into something it wasn’t intended to be, I made the decision to remove the treat pouch from the equation so we could continue working on the skill we were there to practice.

At the end of the video, you’ll notice Piper give a big full body shake. Dogs will often do this after moments of stress or tension.

I wanted to share this session because training isn’t always about following a perfect plan. It’s about reading the dog in front of you, understanding what you’re trying to accomplish, and knowing when to make adjustments.

Not every behavior needs to become the focus of that particular training session.

Everyone, meet Pete!

We are excited to welcome this handsome little guy to our Service Dog Program!

Pete arrived last Saturday, and he has already been one busy little puppy! He has been working on crate skills, learning good manners, getting comfortable with baths, and, of course, perfecting the art of being absolutely adorable!

What makes Pete’s journey even more special is that he has already been paired with his person! Everything we do throughout his training will help prepare him for the important job he has ahead of him.

Right now, our focus is on building a strong foundation, creating good habits, and helping Pete become a confident, well-rounded puppy. Even future service dogs have to start with the basics!

We are looking forward to sharing Pete’s journey with all of you as he learns and grows.

Please help us give Pete a big welcome!
