🚨 Bar K OKC closed permanently and without warning.
Over 35 employees—including 6 full-time and dozens of part-time team members—were told today that they no longer have jobs. No notice. No severance. No time to plan.

Bar K wasn’t just a dog park—it was a community. It was a safe, happy place for dogs and people alike, and it was made that way by the people who worked there.

These employees:
🐾 Showed up rain or shine
🐾 Loved on our dogs like they were their own
🐾 Helped rescue groups (like ours!) host adoption events and fundraisers
🐾 Created a space where dog people could feel at home

Now, just weeks before school starts, many of them are scrambling to pay rent, buy groceries, and get their kids ready for a new school year—with no paycheck to fall back on.

💛 We’ve launched a GoFundMe to raise $25,000 to help cover:

• Rent & essential bills
• Groceries & transportation
• Back-to-school costs
• Emergency expenses from the sudden closure

We may not be able to save Bar K—but we can support the people who made it so special.

We’re howlin’ with excitement to welcome The Punk Paw Parlor to Summerween at Bar K this Saturday from 4–8 PM!

Founded by Ericka, The Punk Paw Parlor is all about one-on-one grooming care from the comfort of a Norman home salon or a private salon suite in Edmond. They also offer house call services — perfect for anxious pups, senior sweethearts, or pet parents looking for a more budget-friendly grooming option!

✨ At the event, you can expect:
🎨 Face painting for the humans
🌈 Colorful hair dye for the dogs (yes, really!!)
🖤 A whole vibe that’s as cool as your pup deserves

🩺 Medical Monday: Nail Trimming Tips for Dogs 🐾✂️

Did you know that long nails can cause pain and even change the way your dog walks? Overgrown nails can lead to joint issues, broken nails, and reduced mobility.

💡 Why trim your dog’s nails regularly?
• Prevent painful overgrowth
• Avoid cracked or split nails
• Protect your floors and furniture
• Keep your dog comfortable and healthy

✂️ How to trim your dog’s nails safely:

Use sharp, dog-specific nail clippers or a grinder

Trim small amounts at a time to avoid the quick (the pink part inside the nail)

If your dog has dark nails, trim slowly and look for a gray or white center

Keep styptic powder nearby in case of bleeding

Reward with treats and praise!

🗓️ Most dogs need a trim every 3–4 weeks, but this can vary. If you're unsure, your vet or groomer can help guide you.

🐶 Healthy nails = a happy dog!

Now that you’ve met us both, let’s tell you how we got started!

In 2021, Keegan was working at a doggy daycare/grooming place. Ericka had brought her dog at the time in a few times to see him. Eventually she started working there, and the rest is history!

Starting with just mobile nail trims, turned to requests for full services, turned to following us to where we are now!

We started The Punk Paw Parlor as two individuals that love to embrace our individuality and selves. We’re different 🤷🏽‍♀️ We are tattooed, have piercings, and have different style than others! Of course, everyone is different in their own ways, and we love that! We’re glad to have a community of all of you to support us. We love when your pet leaves feeling great and making you happy!

We are so fortunate to have taken our experience in the grooming world to open up, we noticed one on one was the best way to treat your pet. They love it too! We thank you all 🤍
