We are so excited to welcome Melody’s Rabbitry to this year’s Mommy & Me: A Garden Tea Soirée!

Families will have the opportunity to slow down, connect, and enjoy a peaceful bunny experience as they meet these sweet furry friends in our spring garden setting. Melody shares her beloved bunnies with the community through wellness experiences that create moments of calm, joy, wonder, and connection.

This experience beautifully reflects the heart behind our event—creating intentional moments where families can simply be together and make memories.

As a mother of 7, with 4 being autistic, making sure any animals around my kiddos is a priority.
The reality is, many animals are given up simply because a person thinks a new pet should come 100% fool proof. When it takes consistency, training, etc.
Some are given up because they are too loud.
Theyre too big. Theyre too much energy.
With my rabbits- theyre quiet. They can be sassy but because they have a personality. But I do not tolerate any that will attack.
My 3 year old is my official little helper when it comes to desensitizing the babies. You really think I would allow my kid around an aggressive doe? No.
My 9 year old is autistic and she loves being around them. She doesnt even need to be petting them. She can sit by them for hours just smiling and talking to them. Theres no pressure. No jumping from them like a puppy or kitty.
My 19 yr old autistic twins take the responsibility of helping feeding and cleaning. That's a routine that can be instilled. They also assist me when I do events/mobile petting zoo.
Just like autism being misunderstood, so are bunnies. They are amazing pets, friends and listeners 💕

Not every litter starts off perfectly. Sometimes plans change, nests fail, and babies need a little extra help. These little ones are being shelved and brought to mama for feedings so they still get the care they need. 🐇💕

In this case we used fur from our livestock guardian dog for warmth. 😅 luckily their mom is there to feed without complaints. The plan is to reunite them again after the first week.

Things may not go as planned- but we find a way 🙏

Our first time mama Holland lop had 3 beautiful babies this morning. She didn't have them in her nest or pull fur- which isn't surprising as its her first time. Luckily our livestock guardian dog volunteered some fur to help the babies stay warm until it kicks in for mama to pull fur 😊
Bellies looked full.

Don't worry about the puppies. They are our bunnies guardians and they are well aware. They stay foraging near our puppies to stay safe until they're brought back into their cage. They're desensitized to dogs and barking so they aren't stressed easily. Those traits are passed down to the babies which is so important with finding forever homes 💓

Her sisters are who I took to the mental health fair. Their sweet temperament is something I wanted passed down for future potential bunny owners 💕
The father is our American fuzzy lop. Another docile breed 💕 2 of the 3 seem to have his color pattern (gray/blue and white) and one like mama, gray/blue

Bunnies are overlooked when it comes to a pet for someone with mental health or neurodivergent. They are calm, requires a consistent routine and are quiet. Many qualities that are needed when it comes to certain people/lifestyles.
Can't wait to provide updates and hoping all goes well with these 3.
Mama is doing well and has unlimited feed, water, hay and will be adding alfalfa for extra protein as she is now nursing 🐇🐰
