The boys say geldings have more fun 🤪 Gumbo and Ozzy are getting plenty of exercise to keep their swelling down after their castrations.

Ozzy and Gumbo were FINALLY able to be gelded. It was a massive hurdle considering cost, the weather, and assessing if they could physically be gelded. Gumbo retained his second testicle until this summer and we weren't 100% sure Ozzy had both descended, but thankfully our amazing vet was able to get them both done.

This visit will cost us a minimum of $750 (not including their vaccinations, antibiotics, pain meds, deworming, and the emergency banamine we got) JUST for the procedures. THIS IS PAID OUT OF OUR OWN POCKETS. Previous attempts to fundraise gave us $160 towards this cost, so that will alleviate a small part of the bill--thank you to those who donated!

If you would like to help us bear the cost of the remaining balance (invoice to be posted as soon as it is received), the links are below!

Three months later, we have a name for this big guy who tagged along when moving from Colorado. Everyone meet Bishop, a young draft cross gelding. He is probably our biggest horse and is sweet but can be pretty anxious. We're excited to get to work with him more as time goes on.

The hazard of trying to grab an empty feed tub that somebody pulled under the fence is that you are probably going to get mobbed for pets 🥰

Soleil is officially weaning as of this week. She has been steadily losing weight as Stella grows and needs more milk. Supplementing Soleil with high fat feed seems to all be going to her foal instead of her so we made the call despite wanting to wait another month.

The good news is that they are handling it very well, which isn't surprising with how confident and independent Stella is. They can still see each other, but Stella cannot nurse and hangs out with the herd while Soleil has been brought in with Walter to put weight on.

Roulette almost looks like a different horse nowadays! She put on some weight and her winter coat is coming in.

ARWEN is available!

5yo grade mare
15.1hh

Arwen is a beautiful grey mare who came to us terrified and, unbeknownst to us, pregnant. After time and trust-building, we found out she was halter broke, though we have never tried to see if she is broke to ride. She has been out of work since having her c**t, serving only as the lead mare of our herd. We are working on refreshing her groundwork skills, but she will need more consistent work to truly shine. She is always first to greet you at the fence and loves attention. She is an easy keeper.

She is available to a home where her education will continue and someone will start her under saddle.

She has learned:
• Being haltered & leading
• Standing for farrier
• Yielding hind
• Standing tied
• Moving off pressure/lunging walk & trot

Due to her age, we have decided Cadence will stay to continue growing and to continue her training.

After evaluation, Arwen (Ari) will be made available soon. She is a 5yo grade mare and stands about 15.1. She is halter broke and has taken the beginning of her refresher on other ground work fairly well. If anyone is looking for a beautiful grey lady for what should be a fairly easy project, please reach out!
