Happy Monday! I always start my week thinking about my goals, my aspirations and the change I am trying to 'create' through The Gilded Paddock, and today is no different.

Somehow, someway the has become a place of inclusion, a safe space, a supportive community (I love that my followers, follow some of my followers and are very 'engaged' with them too! that is sooo special!).

It is a place where we build each other up, we care when something's not going right, we celebrate every little wonderful good thing that happens, and of course, we all LOVE THE HORSES...and we care about the products we use for them.

I just wanted to tell you all that I appreciate you, I value your kindness and I am forever grateful you choose to be 'here' with me!

Hugs - Annie

Feature Friday: TGP's Limited Release of our 100% Natural Zinc Balm 🌿

Made just for Kingsley...but we decided to share! That muzzle used to get really pink in summer, and I hated the thought of it being dry, irritated and sunburned! But I also was cautious of what I used, since he dunks that cute nose in his water.

🧪So into the lab I went...here we are a year later, and I have had inquiries about a sunscreen for the horses. So I am sharing one of my favorites (and Kingsley's too! he always 'leans in' for his nose treatment!)

Just for those of you that may need some protection for your precious white muzzled babies. 😉

Not a bunch made, so when they are gone...they will be GONE until next year. I will share a little on camera 'sampling' on our Behind the Label Live this Sunday at 10am PST.

Did you know that even NATURAL ingredients can be TOXIC? ☠️

Pennyroyal is an essential oil - and for some reason, it is in a Natural Fly Balm. Thank you to for asking me to do some research on one of the 'natural' fly balms she uses. It contains Pennyroyal Essential OIl.

JUST NO!!! DON'T USE IT!!! ❌🚫‼️☠️

I will say, because California has Prop 65, at least there was a warning on the label. BUT there was no indication as to why that warning was on the label. I think some people overlook that warning - I have found it on a few grooming products. It's good to investigate WHY that warning is on the label.

Pennyroyal essential oil, whether ingested or absorbed through the skin, can cause severe liver and kidney damage. It is a KNOWN CARCINOGEN. ☠️🚫

So just because it is NATURAL does NOT mean it is SAFE.

Do you apply products to your horse with your hands??? Well, if you are like me - the answer to that is YES. So are you willing to expose yourself to harmful ingredients?

One of the biggest misconceptions is that those silicone detanglers are helping the hair (mane & tail) on your horse, and untangling them. It's half true.

👉Silicone based products do detangle, and provide shine. However, the nature of them is that they 'build up' and are occlusive on the hair. They do not allow moisture in or out, they do not "ABSORB" into the hair.

👉Some plant oils are similar and will rest on top of the hair, vs soaking in. That locks the moisture out and actually will DRY the hair.

✨Our Glisten Spray is a very different product - it has plant esters, to impart the shine, detangle ANY mane & tail, give that slick comb through...

Then, because of the plant esters and HUMECTANTS, it will absorb into the hair...leaving it soft, silky and manageable for days. 🌿⭐️✨

Seriously. Try it. 😉

We have about 13 bottles available at a special price - we are testing a new labeling machine and the labels had a few bubbles....DM me for 20% off! When they are gone, so is the discount!

Monday. That Big Hairy Audacious Goal (my BHAG) is always front and center at the start of the week.

👉So what's on your "NO List"...that 'in the back of your mind' list of things you will not use on your horse? Sulfates, Parabens, Petroleum? Known carcinogens?

👉Do you think about what's in YOUR own hair & skin care products? If you do, it might be time to think about the grooming products you use on your horse, afterall, we are often applying those products with our hands!

🌿At TGP our products are made with Natural & Naturally Derived ingredients, with no toxic by-products or harmful ingredients.

🌿We have a very long list of Non-Negotiable's and they are on our "NO LIST" on our website. Check it out - you would be surprised at the ingredients that are known-carcinogens AND in grooming products!

TGP has HIGH STANDARDS (and we have done the research for you). Are you ready to join us?

Did you know that not every horse can handle Neem & Lemongrass Essential Oils - they can cause skin irritation for some horses.

That is why I researched a viable and effective alternative. It's Andiroba Oil. Did you know that people use Andiroba Oil in the Amazon for insect repellency? It's a pretty amazing oil, works a lot like Neem (is a related species) - but smells waaayyyy better and does not have the same potential for skin irritation.

And Lemongrass? It's a great insect repellant, and we use it in our normal fly spray...but for the sensitive version I leave this out. Instead I use a blend of Palmarosa & Cedarwood in it's place. All the other ingredients are the same for both Fly Spray Versions....

Geranium, Eucalyptus Citridoria, Copaiba (a little know essential oil that is fantastic at insect repellency AND good for sore muscles too!)...

What else? Well, it had to be a great coat conditioner too - so the oil base I chose is a combination of natural plant esters (silicone alternatives). You get a great shine, healthy coat and a perfect solution to 'deliver' the essential oil blend for insect repellency!

Stay tuned...I will drop a video of us using it on our longhorn cattle this week. Pretty darn amazing that it keeps the masses of flys off of them all afternoon!

Thank you to for the cute shot!

Parabens are often used as preservatives in horse grooming products, as they work well and are cost effective. At TGP, we do NOT use any PARABENS ever.

Here are some reasons why:

👉Some parabens, like propylparaben, can mimic estrogen in the body and have been shown to disrupt hormone function in lab studies — a process known as endocrine disruption. Even though the effect is weak, cumulative exposure from multiple products may be a concern, especially over time.

🚫This hormone mimicry is why they’re classified as potential endocrine disruptors, raising concerns about reproductive health and hormone balance.

👉A 2004 study detected parabens in 99% of human breast tissue samples — suggesting they can accumulate in the body, although the link to breast cancer has not been proven.
