Hand feeding your dog in the back of the car while parked at a comfortable distance from new environments can be a wonderful way to safely socialize and build confidence. Whether it’s a busy street, kids playing at the park, or a distant soccer game, your dog gets the opportunity to calmly observe the world while creating a positive association through food and safety 🍓🚗

Good socialization isn’t about throwing dogs into overwhelming situations — it’s about creating positive experiences at a pace they can handle.

Poncho the golden retriever puppy used to be fearful of bowls 🥺🐾 Instead of forcing the issue, we worked on creating a brand new association — one that was fun, positive, and rewarding. Soon, bowls became the place where yummy floating strawberries appeared 🍓💛
Sometimes training is simply about changing the emotion behind the experience. Confidence grows when dogs feel safe, successful, and understood.

We hope everyone is getting out and enjoying this beautiful Minnesota spring! 🌸🐾 With that said, tick activity is especially high this year—so it’s important to take a few extra precautions.
One simple tip: regularly empty your dog’s kennel of bedding and blankets, and be sure to shake them out thoroughly or wash them to help prevent ticks from settling in. Stay safe and enjoy the season!
