Where it all began.
If you have a pet, I'm certain there are folders and old phones stuffed full of digital photos to remind you of the good times. I have those as well and that was certainly the case before I got my first actual camera. It's still the case, but now I have hard drives full!
2014-2015 I began noticing how much photography was bringing enjoyment to my life. I was lost then and looking for a hobby to replace a lifestyle of living as a musician. My best little buddy at the time name, Lincoln Abraham, was my partner in everything. He was the type of dog that had a posse of his own when it came it people and other dogs. I wanted to have some better quality photos of him and that is partially the reason that a DSLR camera came into my life.
I was a car salesman at the time and that required extensive hours of working throughout the day and weekends. That left the night time, early mornings, and sunsets to practice behind a camera. Lincoln was with me in those early years of learning. Having memories of a good dog by my side on the streets of Portsmouth and Kittery will always have a warm home in my heart.
Fast forward a couple of years and Lincoln unfortunately began to have skin issues that required regular vet visits to mitigate his discomfort. He was always in good spirits and was gentle in his ways when they would see him. Time caught up to him and he slowed down a lot between 2017-2019. Those were the years that we were frequent flyers at Eliot Veterinary Hospital. We peacefully walked him over the rainbow bridge in 2019, in their clinic, while he gobbled down some chocolate munchkins and all the love he could handle.
There is where we met Dr. Shannon Emmons. To this day I'm uncertain of what gravitated us together so closely as our friendship has carried on to the current times. Whenever I would ask how this came together, she would happily and kindly say his name, Lincoln Abraham, did that. And these days our pets, Eli the Pooch, and Mouse, our little black bean of a cat continue to be patients of theirs.
Early on, Shannon had discovered that I was a photographer working in the area and they purchased local landscape prints of mine to fill the rooms in their clinic. I did the photography for the exterior and interior of their location to be used on their website as well. Since 2020 I have been returning year after year to update their staff portraits, too. So to say that our relationship has grown a bit would be an understatement.
In 2020 I had learned how to use flash in a studio setting, and in 2022 I began noticing my love of photographing pets and there is when Boop Snoot Photoshoot had come to mind and became a thing. It started with wanting better photos of Lincoln and that is what led me through into doing what I do these days.
I'll be forever grateful for that dog and the connections that came from him living his best life in the area. I owe him thanks for the life I'm living today and that will always be a thought that keeps me on the path of doing what is called of me from behind the camera.
I recently went in to replace a metal print of Lincoln at Eliot Veterinary Hospital, that had been pretty beat up from falling off of the wall over the years. We replaced it with the same print. The only difference was that this one is a canvas print. That is what sparked the idea to write this.

This one mattered a lot to me, because now you know what has driven and motivated me throughout all these years to become a pet photographer. The love of a dog named, Lincoln Abraham.
I wear many hats as a photographer, but the work that I do with pets, never feels like work and is always a great time!
